i've heard that one way to help your hair mat is to rub wool felt on it- i'm curious about this, because i have a wool tam. so if i keep the tam on and constantly massage my head does that count? if not, how does the wool felt thing work?
lucky you got a wool tam. Wish i had one. Just wear it all the time. This will help the process. It would be good to wear while you sleep to. Just don't wear it when your hair is wet. $00.02 :sombrero:
haha thanks! hey is-it-in-yet, pm me or something, i could probably make you one! this one is ugly but only because i used camouflage colors... a skein of wool yarn at hell-mart is like $5 or $6 and one makes a hat with plenty left over... so i wouldn't be put out by it! earthy- i love it because i keep the hat on and then massage my head. it's good to know that what i'm doing isn't wrecking it.
my bro wore a wool tam for like two weeks straight(except to wash it) and when i saw his dreads after that, they had progressed sooo much. i would definatly advize it
I really need a wool tam! Can anyone make me one and send it to me for like $15. Pm me please. Just plain black, no complicated designs or anything. Let me know!
http://fr.youtube.com/watch?v=EoCRUObS0Tc PART1 http://fr.youtube.com/watch?v=okJ9x5sPzYc&feature=related PART2 Go buy some wool the color your want, buy a crochet (I bought a 6mm crochet, buy at least that size) and learn how to do it your own! You might think I'm kidding but man I didn't knew anything about how to do it myself, and I said hey it might be fun to do since I do my dreads natural and they knot by themselves, why not craft a wool tam for them by myself too Basically you do what the girl says, but do it loose, dont do it tight. It took me 2 days to learn and do it, whats cool is that you choose the size of it (with the single and double crochet at the beggining that makes the top part of the hat and thats the size) after you single crochet until your happy with the lenght easy as 1, 2, 3. Only problem I had is that the hat becomes too tight at the end and dont fit in my head like I thought at the beggining, so you make a row of 4 single 1 double, 4 single 1 double, etc etc etc JUST ONE ROW and you continue with single until you get your lenght. I won't explain much more then that with 2 or 3 hours of practice your alright, takes about 3 to 4 hours to complete maybe 5 but its fun when you know its for your dreads.
wow! I just watched that, and it is waaay to complicated for me to do. I cant understand any of that.
is wearing a wool hat productive if you have too much hair to fit all of it inside the hat? like if i wore a wool hat just covering the roots and the first few inches would it be beneficial?
i didn't realise people were still posting on this thread! i'm going to put some hats up on my etsy site or make a shop here on the forums i think... i'm moving soon and have to get rid of a bunch of things
Awesome thread. My grandmother insisted that everyone (yes, even the boys) should know how to sew, knit, and crochet, and she taught me as a kid. So this should be a fun project. I shall start tomorrow! lol
lol because of this im gonna try and make myself a hat so 6mm you say? k well im gonna go hit up hell-mart tommorow and buy some wool and a crochet needle
Here's a little better video, I think, that shows you how to make a tam. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FIH0ntfwzCk
