In Indonesia...Where to go? Flores? Lombok?

Sort of came here on a tangent from Malaysia...Don't even have a guidebook and to be honest can't be bothered dishing out stupid money for a crap second hand copy here in Kuta Bali...

My plan as it stands is to fly out of here asap (hating Bali) to Flores, then work my way back to Lombok and the Gilli islands then catch my flight from Bali to KL on the 17th August...

Has anyone been to Flores? Could you recommend it? I'm at the end of my trip so am looking to wind it down now and chill a bit. Not looking for crazy parties every night (though the occasional one is always welcome).


Any suggestions or recommendations on where to go?

Lombok and the Gilis are pretty much the same as Bali (Kuta), tonnes of hawkers, touts and hustlers. the Gilis are expensive as well. I'm in Bali at the moment, and don't like it very much. as some of the people I've met have said, Bali & Lombok isn't Indonesia. you should go to Sumatra, Java, Flores, Sulawesi, Timor, Kalimantan, for example. Sumatra especially I've heard nothing but praise of.

oh, also, unless you've booked a flight already, there are some cheap ferries from Malaysia to Sumatra, 80rm from Melaka and 150rm from Georgetown. good to know for later on as well, I'll probably do Sumatra and Java after I've gone through mainland SE Asia for a while.
