any one hear into jamming on lsd. I am really into jam bands and stuff and am wondering if jamming would be easy on lsd. I once did shrooms and i just felt out of it and i was way to overwhelmed to jam. I was just too distracted and stoned. Would music be different on acid, for instance, would it be possible to focus and jam?

If you could relate it do either, would it be more like jamming high (smokin bud) or jamming drunk? or just neither..

I dont know, i am just trying to plan shit out and stuff, any responses would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Well I cant stand jam bands, but it depends on what point of the trip your in. If your not really used to the way LSD makes you feel, trying to jam during the peak can be difficult. After the peak is when the euphoria hits me the hardest and playing a musical instrument is much easier than before the peak

Tripping to me in essence is mostly the same unless the chemical has it's own set of physical side effects, but with LSD i'm sure it'll be easier with you to feel content enough to shred. In a way I'd say it's like playing when you're high, if you feel more "connected" and "focused" when high.. except with LSD every note and beat just seems a lot more intricate.

Its similar to playing on shrooms but I would say it is maybe more intense. I guess it just takes practice and a certain amount of discipline to learn how to play well on acid and get used to the intensity of it and to focus and/or flow with it.

i jammed with soem buddies after a phish show once after a visit from our dear friend and it was the funniest setup ever. i was bangin on a practice pad for hours and my buddy had an acoustic and the other an electric. we were recording on a 4track and had wired into the tv for louder sound. i can't even play the tape anymoer cuz the 4track broke and we recorded it faster than normal speed..but that was some fun shit. who cares if it sounds good..just try to make it : )

I once read that Jimi Hendrix played 8 hours straight for Clapton, Townsend, maybe some of the Beatles, and a lot of other big names during a jam session after dropping LSD

I have a band and we jam on lsd frequently. It's one of the best experiences i could have while tripping. Once I felt my soul leave through my fingers, travel through the guitar and explode beautifuly out of the amp, resulting in the total loss of my body. Just the amount of emotional power it provides is overwhelming, it usually brings me to tears. some trips youre on, and some youre off - sometimes my guitar feels too liquidy / rubbery to even play. Another really cool thing about it though is it accelerates your playing ability tremendously once you get playing. i have played faster and better then i ever thought possible on lsd. Right now I'm working on an lsd influenced album (litterally) called "Dark Side of The Mind".

jamming on lsd is amazing, it is like you are a superhuman musician as you watch yourself play with incredible accuracy, creativity and ease. playing music is about being in the moment and lsd is a great way to be in the now.

sometimes it can be difficult to play during the trip. dont trip planning to jam all night. take the lsd and see how it goes, if the time is right it will happen. you can not have expectations when it comes to jamming, if it feels right go for it and if not dont be disappointed.

i have taken lsd in hopes of a wonderful jam session only to spend the whole trip distracted with everything but music. i have taken lsd with no plans and spent several hours jamming wonderful music.

yeah thats definetly good advice bro. One thing ive learned is to set up all my equiptment and get everything tuned and ready before every time i dose.

lsd i think you have lots more control over your mind than mush. i find myself not being able to control myself at all on mush. thats why i dont do them anymore lol, and striclty use acid when i want to trip (which isnt very much). But i can tell you, playing music on acid can either be a.) really really awesome or b.) just doesnt work and sounds really uncomfortable. i think the later you are in your trip (like 4-6 hours in) would be the best time to play. you arent as messed up, but your mind is still trippin and you are still in complete euphoria. Listen to Zilla when you do acid, they know how to play music.

oh ya, forgot to mention that part.

    very important! great advice!

once we rented a bunch of recording gear to turn our house into a studio for 2 months (cost us over $6000). when we got home with the gear we were so excited (and inexperienced) that we dropped the lsd before setting up. after two hours of confusion trying to figure out what cable goes where we gave up until the next day. so much for recording that night...lol

tuning on lsd i can handle as long as it is not WAY out!

maybe you just need to get used it or something but I think its amazing how people like Jimi Hendrix and other musicians could play so well on it, and when I did shrooms, I was just out of it, overwhelmed, and I just couldnt play, it was like the mushrooms sucked all the life out of me and I couldnt do anything lol, but they did give me an amazing feeling of emotion and creativity,so maybe with practice and experience I will be able to control it when i trip but I dont know..also, I though of this the day after: "I dont have be on mushrooms to play music, but I have to play music on mushrooms." Its like I had an uncontrollable feeling of emotion and I had to let it out somehow..but its hard while ttrippin hard

jimi hendrix actually walked off stage because he was going through so much on his trip that he could not play.

sometimes you have to go where the trip takes you and sometimes that means no jam.

and i dont think it is a good idea to take lsd for every show or jam session. moderation is key!

lol I love jamming on shrooms
I constantly get distracted because my mind is working so fast I switch what Im playing too much

But its fun, get a nice upbeat song and jam, its tight with chorus and delay or reverb

i love jamming while tripping on LSD. It is one of my favorite things to do period. As said above, some trips are easier to jam during than others. go with the flow. if jamming feels like the right direction to take while tripping then play until the flow takes you else where.

I have def. spent entire trips with different instruments jamming by myself or with others... any musician should give it a try at least once.

grateful dead jammed on lsd once or twice ;)

I love playing music on L. My drumming become so exploritory and spacious. When a whole group is playin on L, the group mind makes everything mesh so well. Theres so much telepathy that goes on its nuts.

Well, if you simply look at all the bands that have influenced your lives throughout these years...they were pretty fucking high on drugs. My personal experiences cause me to state this:

Hallucinogenic drugs DO improve musical talent. I pull some insane shit off when I am tripping, it just comes more natural.

    Hendrix "could not play"? blasphemy!
I think you're talking about the Band Of Gypsys make or break concert in Madison Square Garden. his drink was spiked by Mike Jeffreys with some "contaminated" LSD; he feared the all black group at the time.

I heard Buddy Miles the drummer, say that he witnessed Mike spike his drink.

I don't get it though, giving Jimi acid is like fuel to a fire.
is there really a such thing as contaminated LSD?
or is that just the power of set and setting?
