Who gets annoyed with coworkers and their daily repetitive catch phrases?

I swear I must of hit the fuckin' jackpot at this job I've been at for about a year now, because it seems like over a dozen people here, both male and female talk to me with some stupid catch phrase they've concocted or taken over - over the years to set themselves apart from "the world".

For example, I have one guy that has no choice but to pass my cubical every day during his 20 daily restroom breaks, and calls my name out in an unusual and annoying voice. This has happened pretty much every work day, since I've started. Now imagine that each of those twenty times he passes my desk. Then there is this middle aged Latino woman that comes over to my desk and stop for no less than 5 minutes to say good morning every day. Nothing wrong with saying good morning, but to engage in small talk about nothing but the same thing every morning, which usually consists of the weather or health issues - it can be unbearably annoying. Then there is her partner of the same disposition, that always says "wakey - wakey" whenever she passes by, which I guess is her way of telling everyone to "wake up", despite the obvious clickety clicks of fingers on everyone's keyboards, and the aparent cold and numming stare at their computer monitors... Regardless, why waste the time to open your frickin' mouth if everyone has the same damn daily routine. It's not like everyone is going to jump up break out in some cheesy-ass dance musical by standing on their desk and using office supplies as props to wave around in celebration... Gimme a break.

...And of course there are others that radiate that same kind of rejects from the "Office Space" movie mentality - I just don't see why people feel the need to infect others with their boring excuse for striking up conversation.

Do you work with people like that?

 

Man,that's gotta get old.I worked in the oilfields,the auto industry,plastics,banking,farming,surveying,ect,ect,before I got into roofing and I have always done complete houses BY MYSELF.Just love it not having to put up with other's bs.

 

well, you work in an office, what do you expect? lol.. j/k... sorta.

similar experience. i work with developmentally disabled adults, and they need prompting, and often have to be told not to do something.... the catchphrases my co-workers use for the clients often make me want to vomit. examples:

"that is NOT okay." (said about 5 bazillion times a day)
"hi handsome/gorgeous!!!" (said frequently, always with sugary sweet baby tone... ugh)


it's mostly the "NOT okay" comment that buggs me the most. it's an annoying phrase, and it's negative reinforcement rather than positive. blech. i just hate my job.

 

Nop everyone I work with is a fount of knowledge and wisdom.

Yes. But people like to talk to each other. And say good morning and such. Nothing wrong with it. Try not to be annoyed with them. They are just being friendly. You can be annoyed if they say have a nice day though.

I work with a wide variety of people...all different kinds...While a lot of them annoy me (I am sure I annoy them as well) I just tend to laugh at them...And really find them pretty amusing.. I work in an office and there are about 500 people or so here, all pretty different and a lot who go way above and beyond the word annoying... You just learn to find it comical...

One of my co-workers is this really fat fuck, and whenever he dismisses himself from a meeting or a conference to use the mens room he'll say "I'm going to use the little boys room, I'll be right back"

Co-workers hmm, Well I got this girl sitting next to me..shes new so she keeps asking me a lot of questions , then she repeats them to another coworker whos been here for a while to make sure I gave her the right information... Its really annoying.
