Paranoid.

    So, I'm new to smoking. Make fun of me all you want, I don't give a shit. Anyways, the first couple times I felt real chill...I was pretty content,sitting around listening to music, laughing at things, writing poetry that came out pretttty good...I was real inspired.

    But...I am prone to anxiety/panic attacks and every now and then I can get pretty paranoid/delusional and out of touch with reality. A couple of weeks ago, I felt like this. I thought to myself, "Maybe if I smoke a bowl I'll feel better." So I smoked a bowl. But I only ended up feeling much,much worse. My face felt numb and every shadow in the room looked like a sinister face. I was REALLY freaking out.

    Ever since, I've been extremely nervous about smoking. I have smoked a few times since my freak out...with two okay experiences(but not good) and two more freak-outs...but none were as bad as the first.

    I really want to go back to smoking and feeling better, feeling GOOD not having panic attacks. Is there any hope for me?

    I have high anxiety and am prone to panic attacks myself. The only thing I can recommend is that you are in a totally safe setting. Whenever I freak out while stoned, my heart beats so fast that I think I'm going to have a heart attack. I was 2 inches from being busted on time and I went downstairs and took my stash of my medication (It's regulated where I'm living) It helped me out a little. Some medications don't work well with weed so you have to be careful sometimes. I know whenever I smoked mersh it was more likely to make me freak out. If that's what you're smoking, try some kind bud.

    Not being a doctor and not have the panic / paranoia problem. I can only say that the best way to deal with those issues is find out what is the underlying problem. For example are you afraid that you are going to get cought by your parents or that someone is going to steal your pot. I don't know. All I know is that sometime pot can make your current issues become more of an issue. So if you are freeking out before you smoke you will freek out after. Me personally it calms me way down. For me it is a stress releaver. I also feel that if you think you are going to get paranoid or freek out when you smoke that you will. Relax enjoy and maybe try a different strain of pot.     Deep breathing helps.


    My therapist taught me a method.


    As you are breathing in and out, visualize your breaths as waves.


    Try to make the waves deeper and longer.


    This method also helps you take monster bong hits.

    i am the same way as you are, but i still smoke, although sometimes i do get freaked out and start feeling like i'm going to have a panic attack. but when that happens to me, i just take some breaths, put on some chill music and try to relax until it passes, and i'm usually good after that.

    don't smoke if you are already feeling anxious and stuff, cause it does make it worse.
