    hey everyone

i was considering trying to dread my hair near the beginning of summer, but i chose to shave most of my hair off instead. now the ideas are back into my head, and it's got me wondering: is there anything i can do with my 1"ish long hair that can help prep it to dread more smoothly?

p.s. like i said in the title, i am caucasian and my hair is very straight. if anybody else is in the same boat and has had success with their dreadlocks, would you mind posting a picture of them?

    thanks for reading everybody

Yeah man, just stop combing and start using some residue-free shampoo maybe once or twice a week. Just start treating your hair as if you have dreads and you will be well on your way.

And I have seen quite a few people with straight hair that turned into some pretty nice locks. it may take a little longer depending on just HOW straight it is, but anyone's hair will dread up over time.

wash with bronners wear a wool hat alot be patient
they most likely wont start to dread till they grow alittle more but just do that and salt spray or swim in the ocean and you'll start noticing drweads forming as it gets longer

    conditioner is residue
you can wash everyday but its not needed especialy if u use a non residue sopap like bronners
wash it when you feel the need to, that will probly be at most twice a week..usualy once3 a week
    just stop combing
every so often feel around foe clumps and knors
play with em twisting or just playin with em
as they form sepoerate them into sectuions
wear a hat alot biut the more u weart a hat yhe more u will have to seperate them

    dont overwash
most ppl overwash because the crapo they use to wash buil;ds up leaves residues and makes ya have to wash more often
washing daily is ok...if foe some reason u really gotta but 90% of ppl dont gotta wash more then once or twice a week
if ya work under cars with grease and oil drippin in your hair all day or gety extremely dirty somehow then by all means wash as often as u feel u nreeed
but giving em time between washings to let the knots settle in will result in dresds forming faster
