When asked straight up if he supported gay marriage last night Edwards repeated the right wing party's hate line that marriage should be between a man and a woman. Why should I trust them in foreign policy if they're not willing to stand up against bigotry at home? The polls may be against gay marriage here but polls in the middle east are in even more in favor of killing americans and against democracy. Surely Al Quida with its own hateful rhetoric is a harder opponent to beat than the Family Research Council and GodHatesFags.com here. If they won't even try to stop the weaker opponent now how is he going to stand up to and persuade the stronger one after the election?

Why trust them? Because they are better than the Bush/Cheney alternative and politics is all about compromise.

Why do people keep saying they are better than bush/cheney? Do you not find it sad that that is their entire platform?? Did you not notice that other than the previous statement their stance is basicly the same as the republicans, but taken ot the extremes?? In everyone's rush to have 'not bush' as president perhaps we will be getting something worse? Does anyone even bother to care?

Worse than Bush/Cheney? LOL!! You've got to be joking! Edwards is correct when he says that the country cannot withstand another four years of this administration. Open your eyes!

Have you actualy listened to what they want to do?? I realy do not believe they even know what they are going to do, they seem to just be claiming they will do this or that or whatever they believe will appeal to people with no intention of going through with it, and no plan of how they would actualy do it if they did intend to.

Edwards has his own beliefs, and this is fine, we should respect them. He believes marriage is between a man and a women, whatever.
He also said that the benefits of marriage should be extended to long-term gay couples because alot of problems come about in a bunch of different areas: adoption, death related paperwork, taxes etc...
He also said that marraige is a state issue, not a federal issue, and as such the states should be free to make their own laws regarding it without federal intervention.
    What's wrong with that?

Well I don't have any problem with, except I fail to see why same sex-marriage is even an issue, considering that the only marriage the government can do anything about is the legal kind, and a legal marriage realy is nothing but a convenient way totake care of things like you mentioned. I having trouble trying to explain, but I see no reason why same-sex marriages should be banned, except for religious reasons which I believe have no place in government.
My problem with them is things like they want to lower taxes, yet raise them. They think the iraq war is wrong, but come across as promoting the need for more wars. They want to cut the deficit in half, yet they want to increase spending on many things. My question is how are they going to do all this? Plus they seem even more sure that killing more terrorists is the answer to everything than the bush administration!

Please, this is just not true. They have a much larger emphasis on domestic issues than our current administration. And were trying to point out themselves that this gay marriage thing is nothing but a smoke screen from the republicans.
