I'm sorry to announce, ladies and gentlemen, that George Carlin died sunday after being admitted to St John's health center in Santa Monica with chest pains. He had heart problems. George, one of my dreams has died with you. One of the 25 things I wanted to do before I died, was to go to one of your live shows and buy you a drink. I know you were a self-proclaimed athiest, and so I don't know what to wish for you, except to wish you well, wherever you are. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080623/ap_on_en_tv/obit_george_carlin p.s. I wasn't sure where else to put this. I'd have put it under random thoughts, but I know a lot of people cut their counter-cultural teeth on Carlin's musings, so it felt significant enough to put here.
It's so sad, he is one of my idols. As for where he is going, he said it was probably going to be a "public bathroom in Honduras," so wish him luck there! It still hasn't truly sunk in...
Yeah--I couldn't believe it either--his passing came as a total shock to me and my parents when we heard the news on TV this evening! We went to see him a few years ago, and his performance was terrific--he had everybody there practically in stitches! He will be greatly missed by everyone--and I wish his soul a safe passage to the Other Side!
was a shock to me too when I first heard it, loved carlin; even though I didn't agree with all his views on religion. I don't think it matters he was an atheist though, I think he's on the other side, in heaven, in the after life, whatever you want to call it; still making people laugh
