Giving Blood

I've given blood in the past, before i started smoking weed. i got a phone call from the red cross because there is a blood shortage in the area i live, and they were asking if i could donate. my question is this (i wasn't about to ask the woman on the phone): can people who smoke pot frequently donate blood? they always ask a list of questions before they let you donate, but i can't remember if they ask about pot, since it's been about three years since i've donated, and at the time i didn't smoke. any insight would be appreciated.

i would gladly give blood all the time if i wasn't so afraid of needles.

so yeah, i have nothing really to contribute here cause i've never given blood.

 

Same...I am deathly afraid of needles and I would probably make a scene and try to escape from the doctor's office before consenting to having blood drawn.

 

I pass out when I get my blood drawn. they lay me down before getting anything even ready.

 

I used to work for the Red Cross. I was one of the vampires. Needles all day. I personaly don't have a problem with it. Just an FYI they are never really short of blood they just say that to get you to donate. Not that it is not for a good cause and they do need to keep the blood supply fresh. If they were really short they would get a shipment from another area of the country in order to make up the demand. Smoking, drinking and drugs are ok for donating blood, even if there were toxic levels of a substance they filter it out and or just use the platlets. They test everyones blood carefully. Does not matter who you are they can't afford to trust anyone. Donate away. It helps the troops!!!

 

I don't mind getting my blood drawn and do it every year at school to get out of classes ^-^

Nah, just bold-face lie. Unless you did an 8ball to your face the previous night or something, your blood will be fine.

I'm a regular plasma donor. They don't care about weed, just IV drugs. Don't see why whole blood would be any different.

 

Yea, I donated in May at school and really, all they care about is needles, cocaine and the lot...I think it's a disease issue...But I don't know how you get HIV from coke...

They also ask things like have you taken any medecines today, that kind of thing, they just want to be safe. Best idea ever! Call Them to find out what the limits are, as a ton of questions and then you'll have your info!

That is fucking beautiful. I will forever remember that and think of it with fondness. I cannot believe that only a ~60 hour break would make me higher than I've ever been.

I love giving blood. I'm a sucker for free juice and cookies I love needles, I love watching them go in, it's really fascinating.
And you'll be fine. They don't ask you about smoking, just sharing needles.
Just don't bone any gay dudes and admit to it our you'll be banned for life.

 

dude i love needles too! i don't mean it in a creepy way or anything like that, but i never mind getting shots, piercings, tattoos, and donating etc. just not heroine. bad idea. lol
