so really i just wanted a topic to argue about , and well since everyone has hair here and since most of us high school and older people try different things with our hair i thought i would ask your opinion. So my sis and mom use to be like u use way to many gels and hair wax one day son ur going to be bald.

so is it really true that hair gel and hair wax and hair clay is really bad for the hair?i mean is it really the cause?? i basically think maybe iin my opinion that its stress and people who wear helmets and also people who are out at sea and tension can be the major causes of balding .im i right???

im just concerned about myself , cuz i really tend to use alot of hair products.and i keep thinking to myself damn have u seen these asian kids? they have the most wackiest hairstyles ever.tehy use hair irons and straghtners every freaking day.im serious its on utube.... so how come asians also never go bald.hmmm .quite an interesting topic.and no one really has a proper theory to this !!!!

I don't know, I have never used any gels or waxes just because I have curly hair so I never really had to do something with it. But I think the main problem is not gel or wax, it's a whole hair care (type of a shampoo and blah blah blah..). If you use wax or something, I think you should give your hair also a good "after-care".. if you know what I mean. :)

Hair Products Like Hairspray, Mousse And Gel Are Awful For Your Hair--But Won't Make It Fall Out.

conditioners, hair masks and all that stuff. also a big influence might have your life style (what you eat, if you smoke or not etc)

terrible. don't use. it will make your hair fall off and make your scalp puff up so much it looks like you have a second forehead. and your feet will grow toes aroudn the entire circumfrence.

If you use massive amounts of styling product that basically glues your hair in place every day, it can rip out hairs by the root, damaging the follicles until hair won't grow out of them anymore.
Same goes for wearing a hat every day, or tight pony tail every day.

Like the others said, you're far better off staying away from hair gels and styling products. It'll take up lots of time, make you hair look really bad, and in general, do more harm then good. All natural is the way to go :)

I think you're fine.. don't worry about it. I always thought hair loss was a cause of genetics. I have bleached my hair and have dyed it since I was 14, just stopped, and never used hair products... I'm using some polmade now though cuz I just got it cut short. Sometimes a few hairs fall out. But seriously.. everyone's hair falls out a little bit. Your family probably thinks it just looks bad so maybe they're trying to get you to stop or something. Haha I dunno. But all I can tell you is that I'm not balding.

Also think of what the average girl does to her hair... straigtening, bleaching, hairspray, I don't even know what else. I mean they might go bald but most women aren't bald so I don't think there's really a correlation.

Also keep in mind that baldness typically occurs around or at 50 right? Sometimes earlier and sometimes later but let's just say 50 to be general...Now, say you got 30 years til 50, think about what it was like 30 years ago, people weren't going nuts with dyes and chems and waxes and stuff were they? But nowadays they are, at least they are much more, so you won't see all them asian kids and whatnot going bald for some time...but who knows, it may just hit them too, and bad.

I mean maybe not as much but people did dye and bleach their hair then.. and there were definitely hair products, hairspray... look at 70's hair come on thats not easy to just do, you need lots of products hah

Oh yeah, fer sure...I just mean that today's kids seem to think it's absolutely necessary to dye their hair every few months or gel it, wax it, shampoo and condition it every single...Can't be good can it?

I though that all those years ago, shampooing wasn't something done every day...Even know, people are saying it's not a good idea.

errr...if you do not have damage, then cutting off hair is simply shortening it.
if you HAVE splits, then trim those hairs off, otherwise, leave it alone.

I used to have thicker hair, then I dyed it almost monthly a different color when I was in high school and used gel, wax, etc,, It did make a difference in my hair I have to say. Not that its a horrible thing but I do wish it was as thick as it used to be. I think really it has more to do with how well you take care of your hair and such.
