This came out yesterday on cnn.com came here yesterday to post it, but got caught up in all the "wtf happened to the forumz, omg haxx0rz" brouhaha HR5843 (CNN) -- The U.S. should stop arresting responsible marijuana users, Rep. Barney Frank said Wednesday, announcing a proposal to end federal penalties for Americans carrying fewer than 100 grams, almost a quarter-pound, of the substance. the article seems pretty hopeful someone posted a comment on the article saying something along the lines of: We should stop using the phrase "Legalize Marijuana" and start using "End Marijuana Prohibition" that seems like a moot point, but it almost entirely changes the connotation of the cause i feel that the important thing is not to try to legalize marijuana, but to decriminalize it also, the article does a good job reporting on the "marijuana vs. alcohol" argument by the head of NORML simply stating: "We do not arrest and jail responsible alcohol drinkers," he said. exactly. i'll leave all other points up for discussion
i personally believe it'll never be fully legal. in my life time, or my kid's life time. maybe in their kids' life time, but probably not. it may be brought to a point where if you're caught with it all they do is take it and fine you, but FULL legalization? doubt it.
search button, horace!! search button! haha i'm kidding, but i really think this was posted recently.
probably never legalized, but chances of decriminalization are becoming less and less only a sliver of hope and more and more plausible Decriminalization in the US some states are ahead in the game NORML has all state laws up, and there you can check out all the states that are decriminalized some are more decriminalized than others, take Alaska, California, Colorado, Minnesota, New York, Ohio, even Nebraska and Mississipi, all for example
damn, my bad it just came up on cnn yesterday, and when i got off work i was going to see if someone had already posted it, but, as i said, got caught up in what was happening and i guess cuz i didn't see it in here i assumed it hadn't been made i only graze over in the main marijuana forum when this place isn't hoppin'
hmmm... i dont know whether to love or hate barney frank. anyways i doubt this will pass or anything, but i hope at least it will get more politicians talking about it
that ain't a bad thing at all. i like how he is looking to decrim 100 grams or less. nice for us real potheads out there who SMOKE SMOKE
actually kids, this was posted in the stoners lounge yesterday. but it didn't get any conversation on it here was my post HR 5483 is a great proposed legislation. the laws shouldn't punish users only the abusers or those slanging 10 lbs there needs to be more discussion on HR 5482 which prortects medical marijuana patients. knowledge is power. exercise your vote and get politicians who support your PRACTICAL ideals. we don't need more wingnuts and linky to the original thread http://www.hipforums.com/newforums/showthread.php?t=316489 Nowthat's what's up. be a user not an abuser
Whatever? How many generations do you think this bullshit prohibition can last? It's been... two or three, and I don't believe for a second that my grandchildren will have to live with marijuana prohibition. Legalization (or the fall of the government which has prohibited it) will happen within my lifetime. This legislation came out months ago, it's fucking rediculous that it took the mainstream media this long to notice!
god damnz i knew this couldn't slip by and not have been posted on the stoners lounge was thinking something was up oh well
