Whatever you do-Don't go to Harding!!!! I live in Arkansas. If anything, go to Hendrix if you plan on going to Arkansas.
LOL. I didn't know one had to go to an expensive college just to help one start a career in order to become a successful "hippie". Most of the hippies I grew up with learned got their education in life from the school of hard knocks, all for free.
Most of the "hippies" I know did tend to be education at posh universities/colleges, and a lot come from well off backgrounds. Its expensive to live any kind of bohemian lifestyle these days, unlike the old days Im guessing
for whoever said that they want a pot friendly campus you might find this link helpful http://hightimes.com/entertainment/ht_admin/2229
OUE in Athens!!! I dont go there but I make regular trips to party and hang out with some hip cats. If you went there we could hook up and chill.
This is going back to the early pages of this thread, but App State in Boone, NC is awesome. One of my brothers went there and it has an awesome feel. The people are chill, the community is great, and it has a decent little downtown. If you ever get a chance to visit, go to a store called the Dancing Moon downtown and talk to the old hippie who owns it (It's not a head shop, just a hippy type store). There is also a homeless guy who sells rocks he steals off of campus buildings and will tell you a story about where he "really" got each rock... like at the great wall of china or the colosseum. =p. He tells you that you can keep the rock, but you must return the story. He's awesome. As for me, next year, I'm starting as a Freshman at Vassar College in upstate NY, and it is incredible. I have never been to any other place where I feel more comfortable around everyone. It'll be wonderful. If you are looking for an upper tier, liberal arts college, look no further than Vassar.
Warren Wilson College in Ashville, NC always looked appealing, but I went to one of the PSU branch campuses and the overall experience was good.
reed college in Portland, Or is good as well as the school in Eugene, OR. I was passing through Eugene as a traveler and was offered virtually any drug I wanted at a farmer's market
does anyone know about truman state university? i kinda wondered what the hippie scene was there since they call themselves a liberal arts university...
Hampshire College in Amherst, MA. It's one of the 'make your own major' hippie schools from the sixties.
earlham in richmond indiana is pretty sweet. small expensive private school. about as hippie as this forum. some people there described it as almost cult-like.
Sorry, I didn't read through all 12 pages, but U of Colorado @ BOULDER has got to be the biggest hippie college ever!
