Speaking of Carlos Castaneda LOL (in another thread)...ever read any of his books? Supposedly the Mexican brujo Don Juan used "power plants" (Datura - "devil's weed" in this case, I believe) to help Carlos assume the shape of a crow and fly away...

I was a huge 40 foot giant anaconda in a dream once, and also in a spontanious 'shamanic journey' i did on mushrooms once, i was suddenly a small hawk, flying high and searching for something ... i became and merged with many animals and lifeforms in that journey too. ... very vivid, and uncontrollable.

Hey Zany Chew...there's nothing ridiculous about it. You should read up a little on Shamans, shapeshifting etc. You will find it in just about every culture-celtic, native, aboriginal peoples of Australia and if I'm not mistaken, even the Buddhist monks.(correct me if I am wrong about the monks). I guess you could say it was one of your extraordinary dreams.
