Seen them all, love the show, especially the earlier episodes, but it started to taper off towards the end, hence why the BBC decided not to make anymore. Craig Charles who played Dave Lister in the show actually lived near me but I hasten to add that he was not a very well liked person in reality. Many thought he was cocky and a bit of a prat in our town. Saw him once in my local pub where he got up and sang on the pubs microphone, when he finished nobody clapped or acknowledged him. I asked what his favourite episode was and it was the one called ''Gunmen of the Apocalypse'', btw.
Hi, yeah I heard they were doing somethuing with a film, but I don't know how good it would be, it's been like 15 years? Since they were the crew...
Really want to see a film and or a new series, Red Dwarf's amazing. Cat was probably my favourite character, he was a class act. The episode where they meet this creature that turns into the thing that the person loves most, Rimmer and Lister get their dream dates, and Cat gets himself! Priceless....
i was and still am a huge fan of red dwarf. rimmer was by far my favourite with the amount of sarcastic comebacks he came up with and just his attitude in general. anyone seen the episode with the talking toaster? and kryten tries ordering it what to do? solid gold.
My mate doesn't like him, he used to know his son and apparently he stole money from their house to fund a drug habit. Still Lister rocks....
The books are awesome, though I watched the shows first. I didn't like how they revamped the graphics and changed the look of the Red Dwarf itself. To be frank, the new flashier graphics were pretty shitty, the budget must have been really low because CGI for that time was way more advanced that what they chose to do with it. I have heard rumors of the RD movie, and I have read stuff about it on the official red dwarf website. I doesn't look like it's going to happen. If you are bored and want to thank any god you believe in, go read the script for the US version of Red Dwarf. man it sucked, I'm so glad they never made it. The Cat was going to be that Trill chick from Star Trek DS9. Yes, a woman. And a white Lister. I hate how Hollywood sees fet to change things to make what we would think would be better. At least they kept Kryton the same (actor too). I actually think we did have our version of Red Dwarf, it was called "homeboys in outerspace". If you remember it, you'll know some elements from RD that were swiped for that stink burger.
The pilot for the American Red Dwarf is available online. I found it on some random torrent site. It was BAD. They tried to toss all the characters and major plotlines from the entire first two seasons into the first episode.
Hello! I loved Red Dwarf! I must of missed an episode because I don’t know how their on board computer went from Holly to Hillary. I did see the parallel universe episode but they didn’t say they were going to switch computers. Also I heard a rumor that the reason the show was cancelled was because Craig Charles was gay. So the producers though it would go against his character story line. (marry Kirchansky and live happy ever after on Figgie)
? I think the show just got 'old' i don't think he is gay, it might be news to his partner if he is... http://www.bbc.co.uk/6music/shows/funk_soul/
No, Craig Charles isn't gay. Have you seen the last season? It's the worst. The show was just about to outlive its coolness. Besides, a few years ago there was a huge rape scandal with Craig Charles and his girlfriend (he didn't do it).
I heard Germaine Greer talking about the rape trial on National Public Radio. Apparently it was an OJ-scale thing in the UK. Craig Charles once pulled on my beard and said "It's real! It's real!" in a hotel bar. This was a SF convention. He had a "smoking" party in his room and played his girlfriend's new album. This was many years ago. The last two seasons did not have Rob Grant, that's why they were different, and why the last season in particular was not nearly as good. I've just seen something from the BBC called "Hyperdrive", a good but not nearly as inspired SF comedy, and I guess that's the new RD, and the old one's dead. That RD movie script they talked about for a decade was another flashback to the beginning, and how could they be quite that young at this point?
One of my faves of all time, as I mentioned in the sit-com thread. Have all the DVD and they get good rotation.
I only got to see maybe a dozen episodes before it was canceled by PBS in my city. I loved it!! That cat could not pass any mirror without stopping. LOL
Didn't anyone see the 3 new ones late last year? specially commissioned by Dave...(the home of witty banter) they was fantastic
