If you have, or was with anyone who has when they've had one then what was it like?

I had two a few months ago after about eight years of not having one and after lots of pain-in-the-ass appointments, I'm on medication again.

The first one was the scariest. I was sitting on the computer in March when my right hand started to clench on it's own and I started to feel numb and loose control of my body. I was able to yell out "Fuck!" before I fell forwards and hit my head on the glass desk and I remember looking up at my mum, and my younger sisters boyfriend running over before I blacked out.
I woke up laying on the couch with mum sitting in front of me telling me "You know you've just had a seizure, don't you?"

She told me that she had called an ambulance about half an hour ago, and that I had been consious for about half an hour, but I couldn't remember anything. Like, she had to keep reminding me that I had one, and everytime she reminded me, it was if she'd told me for the first time.
Aparently my mum and sisters boyfriend had carried me up and carried me to the couch (I know you shouldn't move a person if they are having a seizure but I was around glass) I just spend a few hours in the hospital after that and was sent home to sleep.

The second time, I was at a friends house sitting on her bed and watching a movie, and helping her clean her room. I felt the same feeling of my hand clenching again before I swore to get her attention and fell onto my side. I remember her said "No wait! I don't know what to do!" before I said "seizure" and blacked out again. Next thing, I'm sitting on the floor looking around at my friend, her brothers girlfriend and her friend just talking to them. Aparently they had realised that I wasn't regestering anything that they'd been saying so they took the oppertunity to bitch about me - with me.

We have pretty much sorted out the issue now, and have roughly determined why I was having the seizures after so long, now. So hopefully I won't be having anymore.

I had a siezure once when i was a baby, I don't remember it though lol

I have a few friends who have Epilepsy, so I've no doubt seen one. The worst was with my boyfriend's brother, all of a sudden he just went blank for a few seconds and started convulsing violently. I was also alone with him at the time and it was before I knew he had epilepsy. It caught me very off guard and I panicked a little at first.

I had one once during a powerful and disturbing magic mushrooms trip lol. Talk about absolute hell.
I was sitting on the floor in deep meditation and starting to get really out there, and suddenly my left hand started going numb. I thought 'eh, whatever, probably just feel asleep' but the numb sensation started spreading up my arm and into my chest, then carried out into all of my extremities. Then all I remember is going on my back and watching bright neon colours blazing through my head and feeling like I had my hand on a key stuck in an electric outlet.
By far the most terrifying and painful experience of my life. I thought I had eaten poisonous mushrooms
    God Bless +

I've had my share, and about 100 other peoples' share.
I have localized (one side) seizures , petit mal and grand mal. yay.
thankfully I get a halo headache that lets me get someplace relatively safe.
But Thursday, I just sat in the floor of a bookstore.
My great fear is someone calling the EMS.
Most are over in 10 minutes (and a bit to come back from them). I don't need/want a hospital.

They can be quite scary if you've never dealt with one before. The brain is having an electrical storm.

I have a friend who has epilepsy, she had a seizure and stopped breathing for about 10 seconds. That was a bit spooky.

Just make them as comfortable as you can and prevent any self injury.

Don't make it worse for them than it already is.

i've seen a few people go down with seizures. one guy went down after stepping on a nail, the pain triggered the seizure.

my own theory is that you might be able to help yourself reduce the attacks by taking mineral supplements (especially magnesium) and some multi vitamin supplements on a regular basis. you need regular sleep patterns (and plenty of it try going to bed at nine say) and need to stay away from angry people or situations that cause you anxiety. stop taking recreational drugs this will be something that messes with your head. lack of minerals and vitamins is responsible for a lot of the everyday neurological problems in my book.

do all these things for a couple of months and see how you feel.

one very important thing whilst taking the minerals and vitamins is having a regular eating pattern and a light exercise pattern this can be doing something like walking and light jogging. try doing some push ups and sit ups.

you need to programme the mind via the body giving it all available help.

drugs play havoc with some peoples minds stay off all drugs and i mean even coffee. if you have to drink something try some fruit juice or some bottled mineral water.

i think i know what your problem might be

i have had a quick look at your previous posts and noticed that you say that you haven't eaten meat for four years. you might be deficient in potassium. one guy i knew had a sister who was a feverent vegetarian. she came in feeling ill one afternoon and went to bed . in the evening came downstairs and collapsed infront of the family, by the time they had her down the hospital she was not responsive. they did a quick blood test a found she was very deficient in potassium, they injected her with it and everything went back to normal. you might be deficient in these kinds of minerals leading to the seizures, strange as this might seem.

I don't know if I've ever had a seizure or not. Never a violent one, I can confirm that, but I've always wondered if I have something close to them. When I was in high school, I developed a pretty bad tick, it's this weird sensation that starts at the base of my spine and travels upwards until it "jumps" out at my neck in a twitch. Sometimes accompanied by a weird noise, almost like a puppy bark. Around the same time I noticed the tick, I also had days while at school, where I lost all control of my brain and went into these dazes that took either someone else shaking me or the bell to snap me out of. I'd hallucinate often times and it was just fucking freaky. I could hear everything that was going on around me, I'd even be attempting to take notes, but you could tell when the spells hit because my notes would go off and make no sense at all or just be squiggles. It was one of the things that really affected my decision to not go back to school right away. Maybe if I can go to a neurologist some day and find out what the deal is, I will, but since I've never been hurt, and don't daze off if I'm on my feet and moving, no one's ever thought they were a big enough deal for medical attention.

a seasoned vegetarian might know exactly what vegetables to eat to maintain the minerals and vitamins levels that their body needs, they would done a fair amount of research into what they should be eating and not eating.

a young player might just be eating everything they normally eat - minus meat and the right vegetables. i don't particularly relish being a meat eater but i've found that its something that my body needs - sad to say. if you are doing serious physical labour your body needs meat, a good substitute is the mineral and vitamin powder you can get for body builders.

i have a theory that this persons woes have come about because of their diet. solve the diet and things might sort themselves out very quickly but she'll never know unless she looks into it?

I've had 5 grand mals, all 5 of them occuring within hours of one another the day after I gave birth to my twins...I can't recall much of what actually happened, just a feeling of crushing fear (I was told that I screamed "oh my god" before the first one happened), I can vaguely remember being rushed into CT SCAN and that I started to have another seizure because the nurses started yelling "she's going again!" and then I passed out yet another time. I can also recall waking up in the ICU afterwards very, very groggy and disoriented.

My husband witnessed me having several of them, and he was terrified. He said that that my eyes rolled back in my head, my entire body started to convulse, that during one of them I bit my lip really hard and started bleeding, and that I kept making almost like a little crying sound but that I was completely out of it, I wasn't responding to anyone.

I was on 500mg of Dilantin for 3 years afterwards and haven't had a seizure since, however at times, I get this really weird feeling, almost as if I might have one? But I don't know if it's just my fear (I really am afraid of having them again) or what. I'll just get this really bad headache, I'll feel disoriented, almost in a dream-like state, and then I feel really jittery. Not sure what that is, perhaps it could just be anxiety.

Anyway, the only other seizure I've ever had was a febrile seizure as a child. Supposedly, I'm more prone to them with my history, which is another reason I worry sometimes.

But yes, that's what it was like for me.
