But they won't. Politics are tied to the Olympics at the hip. That's the nature of them. It always has been, as it's a forum for international dialogue. '

It's not as if this is some Chinese movie opening and a bunch of people sitting around in the theater and talking about Chinese politics. This is the Olympics, the symbol of international dialogue. It's more than just sport.

Of course people are going to talk about it. It's the nature of them. You can like all you want. It's against the very meaning of them.

Did that slip your radar ;)

    I loved the opening ceremony.
It was on a little too long though.
The best bit for me, were the firework footsteps that covered six miles.
    That was truly awesome.

Off course, there's 'politics' and there's 'politics'...One, as this international dialog you were mentioning, is necessary and respected, while the other, as media wars, hunting people who doesn't think like you and using it as a vent for your own personal problems or, even worse, gaining the personal profit, is what makes me sick when the politics is subject of any conversation....
So, let's just forget about it, at least for this one day of opening and enjoy the spectacular view and competitions between world's greatest athletes...

I've been to the first Olympics stadium in Greece and I can't explain the feeling of standing in the middle of it....If you could see that, you would understand why for those few days nothing else mattered....

I was being facetious, lode. In the context of your flirtation with another poster whose sig reads "Fuck you China. Fuck you."

    But boycotting is bad enough.
