    Hi all,

This is my first time growing and I’m gona post pictures and try to keep a journal which will hopefully help others who don’t know what they’re doing. All criticism is accepted, so here it goes.

I’m growing INDOORS, using Afghan Hindu Kush Seeds (11 of them). I’ll be using two 11w flaressent desk lamps (which I know is too low voltage but I’m going to upgrade my bulb as soon as I can find one).

7th August 2008: I received my seeds and started germinating strait away using a technique I have read about on the internet. The paper towel technique. I placed a few layers of tissue paper on the bottom of a lunch box and put a little water on them (unsterilized as I am inpatient). I placed 4seeds side by side on the paper and doubled it back over to cover the seeds.

    See the pics below:

8th August 2008: I checked my seeds later today and noticed 2 of them had started to germinate out of the 4. I placed them in a pot with compost in (I live next door to Morrison’s so I popped in and bought a small flower in a pot, and then removed the flower and kept the soil) so the seedling is in the pot with the soil and now I’m going to bed.

9th August 2008: all of my seeds have germinated fully and I have decided to go out and buy 3 more pots and some compost. IV filled them up with soil and planted my germinating seeds. One of the pots I planted only 2 non germinated seeds (to experiment). I also purchased my lighting today. I have the lights covering 2 pots each as shown in the pictures below (unsure about whether I should be giving them light at this stage but I am.).

I am keeping the lights on full blast forever until I need to cycle them to force flowering. I hope this is the right way to do it. But allot of people say weed will grow in allot of different conditions the only thing that affected is quality - and to be honest I just want to get stoned for free :).

I have a question - if all 4 plants grow well then am I going to be faced with a smell? I’m growing them in a room I have rented and it’s not so big so if it starts smelling I am personally going to smell of it!

Ill post again next time anything major happens :)

    your pics are broken somehow...

as for smell, 4 females can usually smell up a house without anything to prevent it. look into some cheap filters or odor absorbers, as they will be needed after the first few weeks of flowering

I have updated my post so the pictures are showing.

10th August 2008: My little seedlings have started to sprout. They are just above the soil curled up ready to fling up strait. I’ll take a pic later on when the quality of my camera is better (just looks like a little dot).

Oh does anybody have any idea how long until it will pop up?

:D heehee I’m so excited. But dreading the smell.

According to the packet I will get between 350 - 450 grams from one plant (dried). 4 plants say I get 300 grams – that’s 1200 grams. Which is 45 ounces this is allot of weed and I’m starting to worry myself ha. This much weed drying in my room will smell bad. (Not even a air filter could cover this one up)

11th August 2008: My plants are starting to leave! Here is the first one.

The pot which was growing two have uprooted one of them and placed in a new pot on its own. So I now have 5 plants all growing :) Although I’m not sure if that transplanted one is growing I will soon see. If not then I haven’t lost much it’s better than having 2 in a small pot. Is it worth me making a small time lapse video, because nobody seems to be taking an interest in my posts?

17th Auguest 2008:ahh im feeling good about this whole thing. My plants are looking realy healthy - with some exceptions of cause - i forgot to prepare the water last night to water them so im going to have to wait for the water to cool down to room temp before feeding them. I hear that this will probibly be good for the roots - leaveing it that little bit longer to water them.

Anyway here is a nice pic i took:

You can see the one at the back has a problem with the tip of its leave. Any one know the cause? Heres a upclose.

I think it might be where a drop of water has been and the light has burned her :(

your wasting energy ,, Costing yourself a electric bill for no product.. This lamp will not grow anything but a large electric bill. In this day an age we all do what necessary to reduce greenhouse gas and reduce electric consumption, if your going to used lights for growing make it fair to you and the enviroment if not its a waste..

yes its totally normal under halogen lights... Not good normal either.. bad normal.

rain water is cool as it reaches the ground, my mj like this.. "Super hot mH/hps lamps, wet soil / dry soil , slight dip in leafs .. water , leaves rise up.. soil drys, repeat"....

Great thank you. I haven’t started using the halogen yet and looks like I won’t be using it at all now: P. It didn’t cost that much and I don’t pay for my electric ;) it’s all included in my rent.

    17th August 2008: I’ve purchased a humidity and temperature displayer! : O it’s great and my conditions are fine. About 73 degrees F, 43 % humidity.

I probably really should be worried now as I'm using fluorescents? May be they are too hot? Close?

Like I say I’m a complete noob to growing so thanks for taking the time to reply : D much appreciated.

You will not get that much weed per plant, that's per square meter which is probably about ~12 plants (very baked estimate lol). But they are looking good, what strain are they?, I kind of skimmed through the thread.

First off thank you for the interest

    - The plant was 10 days old in that pic.

    -
Yeah I guessed I wouldn’t get so much, but that’s kind of a relief as its my first time and I live in one room so the smell I’m guessing will be pretty bad. The seeds a bought are Afghani Hindu Kush - quite cheep. And I think 80% indicia and 20% sativa.

I seen my first white fly to day - I didn’t think I’d be so defensive of my plants but I killed the fucker good ! Also I hope someone can help me with this problem. The leaves have been yellowing on one of my plants and today I noticed how bad it really was, I think it’s a zinc deficiency but it’s hard to tell from Google - opinions would be grate : )

And also this plant has browning of the leaves in patches I have no idea what this is and Google hasn’t been very helpful for this one either:

But on to better news : ) *I always like to end with good news. Here are two pics of the healthy ones:

He he he it’s starting to look like weed now : )
