So I've done a good bit of searching on here and found very conflicting opinions about how wraps affect the dreading process. Some say it helps a lot, some say dreads won't form at all inside of wraps. Maybe it varies with different hair types? In any event, I've been experimenting with some cotton yarn and some wool yarn wrapping a few dreads. It seems if I leave a wrap in for even a few days the backcombed baby dreadlet is MUCH tighter and more compact after taking the wrap off. I'm not sure if this tightness is any genuine knotting or just squished hair. So I'm reallly wanting to hear from EVERYONE who has had wraps.. particularly those who wrapped hair that was not already a mature dread. Thanks! :cheers2:
i started a bunch of mine with just beads or wraps i left the wraps in till they fell apart completely (the hemp wraps lasted longest and to this day the dread that was hemp wraped is the 1 i tie em up with most often) cotton wont last long wool will help dread faster but hemp will last years and yea they helped make nice tight dreads
I am wondering if my short locklings would benefit from wraps... I mean the itsy bitsy ones at the nape of my neck...
I've tried one that was a bit short at the base of my neck, and it did seem to make it quite firm, but just can't tell if it helped it knot that much.. I'm going to keep playing around with some wool wraps. I might do a hemp wrap once I have a nice mature lock that I'm satisfied with
alright i didnt want to make a new thread so ill ask, what is this? like explain wrapping and how to and such. it is relevant to my interests.
I wanna know too...mine been dreaded for a month but ends are getting loose and kinda falling out....help.....
