That's outrageous, but unfortunately happens every day, in lots of places around the world. I know of one close call in Egypt where drugs were planted in the belongings of someone I know and they were ambushed by police.

Her lawyer says that the the claim of baggage handlers putting it in her bag was completley made up. The real problem here is not whether she smuggled the pot or not, the problem is that this is even a crime. I believe she brought it, but i dont think anyone should be imprisoned for it. Also, no one would put up such a big fuss if she wasnt a white girl.
The whole thing is fucked up but this girl isn't the only one in the world with problems. The more fucked up thing is that people pay so much attention to one woman getting put in a shitty jail for 20 years when there's another 1/3 of the worlds population that is in way worse situations and there's no one posting threads about helping small refugee children in Mozambique because its too hard to care and too much to burden yourself with. It's all fucked.
guybob, WHY would she have that much pot? just WHY? and WHY would she travel with it in such an un-sneaky way? AND WHY WOULD SHE TELL THE AIRPORT SECURITY THAT IT WAS IN HER BAG? like what the FUCK it definitely WAS NOT hers. that was the stupidest comment i've read in awhile. her lawyer is a dumbfuck by the way. regardless of if she even said it was hers, she was playing on home terf in her country and she couldn't get the charges dropped lower. last person i'd ever hire to represent me in a corrupted court of "law".
i know SS, but if you think realistically about it, the common person can do nothing for starving children in africa to fix it long term. sure you can send a care package, which will feed 1 family for 1 day, but how is that helping? you need governments and people in power to do shit for that. in this situation, we can help. we can send her things, which she will benefit from and we can write to the governments and we can help her because she is only one person, not a million. it's a cause where what you do individually helps a TON as opposed to not really helping at all. we can save her from rotting away in that DISGUSTING country and it's something i fully intend on doing.
