There's always a lot of responses to threads like just say "I won't say anything without the presence of a lawyer and my parents." Or you refuse to let them search you or whatever. I want to know what is actually legit to do if a cop walks up to you and asks if he can search you. (I've obviously googled this shit and everything without any good answers so...) I just want to know how to handle a real situation, I've been encountered before by cops... I ran, always the best choice but I want to know how to deal with it legally. Also I live in Colorado, I assume that changes stuff a little bit because of state laws. EDIT (please read):

dont say no and have to waste your time in court. what u need... is a cutty pocket (thats what we call em) you get a pair of netted basketball shorts... cut hole in the net at the top, put your weed in that pocket and it drops to the bottom of your shorts, wear pants over it so when they search you they wont find it. and trust me they wont ive been searched numberous time and the cutty pocket always works for me

if a cop walks up to you on the street he may NOT search you unless he has suspicion you have a weapon on you, and if you dont anytihing he finds is illegal search and siezure so it is thrown out of court. also you say i do not concent to this search loudly, clearly and constantly so witnesses my hear. and third frequently ask if you are under arrest, becuase if you are not, you may leave and you should do so, before you are under arest
denying a search is not probaly cause to earch your vehicle or your person, but after wards you say am i underarrest and if the answer is no, then ask for your id and leave
No, but if they see anything in plain sight or if there is a smell coming from the car, it is probable cause in most places.

cops can do whatever they want too. you can say no and they will do it anyways and just make up some shit about a smell or something. . people on here will say they can not do this or that but if they want to fuck you then they will fuck you. sorry but yea its life
haha it reminds me of what my dad told me once.. when he was a kid, the teachers were always searching their pokets at school for cigs, and one day him and his friend, cut their pokets , and went to school with no underpants, and the teacher checked their pokets..... and about what to do, i think that running away is the best choice lol
I'm gonna be screwed when I get busted, so far I have thought cops were after me twice, and I ran both times. Funny stories lol. First time, I was smoking with 5 or so other people behind a quicky mart/ parking lot to some buisness (hard to explain), which is in a pretty shitty area and like 2nd hit into the session we heard sirens. Everyone got up and dipped as fast as they could so I did the same lol. Jumped a big ass gate and didn't stop running, I ended up getting called a few minutes later and one of my friends told me it was just an ambulence driving by the parking lot haha. Second time my friend and I were dropped off at a smoke spot (It's a place that used to be a drive-in, so we could sit in a spot where no one else could see us on the drive-in side of the building.. kinda hard to explain too) and we smoked around 2 bowls when we saw the lights of a car hit the building of the drive-in (forgot to add that it was at like 1 AM) so we had a pretty good idea that it was the cops and just dipped. After running for a few seconds we saw the car and it was just our friends that just dropped us off trying to fuck with us lol. The cutty pocket sounds like a BADASS idea though, I'm gonna use it.
Does anyone know if these rights are exactly the same in the UK, or if there is a variation? Can I refuse a search here?
While my knowledge of UK law is pretty rusty at best, one that I came into my head though was this from the wikipedia article on police: British police officers are governed by similar rules, particularly those introduced under the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984 (PACE), but generally have greater powers. They may, for example, legally search any suspect who has been arrested, or their vehicles, home or business premises, without a warrant, and may seize anything they find in a search as evidence But then again it's Britain and from what I hear generally if you're caught smoking pot the police are basically like "go home man, just go home" Also the one great thing we have here is the exclusionary law. There was actually a great article in the New York Times last month on it how we're the only country in the world basically where if a cop fucks up legally in getting evidence, basically all evidence that came from that no matter what can be thrown out.
Well what happend to me is that i was buying shrooms off this guy in a park, i handed him 60 bucks, then this off duty cop (his shirt said he was a cop, but he was off duty), came up to us and started threatening us and told us to empty are pockets. Luckily my friend had the shrooms in a different pocket and we lied, but if we wanted to could we just have said no and walked off, its not like he could have grabbed us and searched us?
Because he was off duty, and is me handing him money a probable cause to search us, anyways i dotn think he would have the authority to becuase he was off duty.
Sorry, but thats stupid. The point is, you should not say ANYTHING. "I just got my car cleaned" is a hell of a lot more suspicious then not saying anything at all. Plus if you tell them you just got your car cleaned and they really do suspect something, they can ask you where you got it cleaned, at which point you (or the theoretical person getting pulled over) will stumble over your words and fuck things up for yourself. Just say smart. It'd probably be easy to say something stupid when confronted by police, but as long as you remember that you don't have to say anything you're all good.
