Hey everyone, I've been reading for a few months, and everyone says in the end dreads work themselves out. I believe that 100%, but what if I dont have years and years to keep my dreads? I'm trying to get my hair dreaded up as fast as possible, because after another year I'll have to enter the job market and with my career there is no way I could have dreadlocks, as much as I would like to. What can I do to make the process as speedy as possible, without doing too much damage to my hair. My hair is naturally straight and fairly thin.
If you don't have years and uears to keep your dreads then don't get them. By the time you'll want to remove them they wont look like much.
I mean this is my last chance ever to have them and i've wanted them since I was much younger, now i'm about to become a criminal defense lawyer, but still want them at least once in my life, is there really no way?
Yeah, there's no way I started 15 months ago and I finally have some rad dreadlocks. Don't even try. have fun being a lawyer . .
well, it's true if you want dreads you can have nasty dumb fast unpatient dreads or you can let them do their thing, over time ..
To actually address your question about if there are any ways to accelerate the locking process, here is what I've gathered from searching on the forum a lot. 1) don't EVER use wax, its evil 2) backcombing will give you a jumpstart, and dread-looking puffs of hair 3) A saltwater spray will help your hair to lock, but just do it a little while before you wash, because the salt can dry out your scalp and severely irritate it 4) Wearing a wool hat can help, because the animal fur rubbing against your hair helps increase knots 5) beads, and wraps (particularly wraps from wool yarn) can tend to help the hair knot. 6) There are mixed opinions on palmrolling, most think it just encourages 'neater' looking dreads but doesn't significantly accelerate knotting. 7) You'll want to wash once a week with Dr. Bonners Tea tree soap diluted 12 parts water to one part soap, you can get this in health food stores or order it Although all of these things will indeed help the process, there is definitely some cogency in what everybody is saying about the time constraints. They will probably just be starting to look good by the time you cut them. You could always get them when you retire, or go into academia and teach criminal law
or you could be a criminal law lawyer with dreads yes it will mean you have to be good enough at your job that a lawfirm (pr your own practice) will takle a chance on you or you will win over clients simply by being good at what you do..in manmy cases ..espexcialy id think in cri, minal deffence some may choose you over a straight laced lawyer simply because your uncinventional and will be more willing to fight for the common man not just the common dollar.. i do know lawyers with dreads not in criminal lkaw but civil i know alotta hippiesh lawyers who are successful bevcause they love the law or more precicely defending the law from all those whod love to see it changed and 3/4 of the popuilation in jail it could be a didsadvantage or an advantage to you to have dreads depending solely on you and how impoerrtant the dreads are to you or if making the maximum amout of cash u can is more important ... me ive always had next to notyhing and been happy with that and ive been offered 10 thousand to cut my dreasds and wouldnt ever even think of it grow your dreads and grow your dreams and one shouldnt have to end the other.. hell in new zewaland a member of parliments got dreads as long as mine almost ppl are wsick and tired if the same ol crap, soon we'll have a president with dreads other then that 78 suburban i couldnt have said it better myself
