Ripping would damage/weaken hair more than cutting wouldn't it? When you rip you're putting more tension and stress on the strands of hair until they tear. I was told it damages the body of the strand. Wouldn't it be better to pull the dreads apart until you can see what hair strands need to be cut to separate the dreads from growing together?

Also with wool wraps, yarn woven in hair, woolen tams and caps, do they leave little wool strands n fuzz in your dreads?

I think it depends on how grown together the dreads are. if you keep on top of ripping, you shouldn't need to worry about using scissors.

I find little pieces of fuzz or lint in mine occasionally, doesn't really bother me. it's just going to go inside the dread and you won't be able to see it anyway.

yea ripping wont stress the dread
if u keep ontop of it especialy'
think of it this way you got 2 ropes being tied together with a thread
pull em apart and which ya think will break 1st?
your dreads if strong can maybe withstand a hundred pounds of pressure without breaking the individual hair sticking em together maybe able to stand 3 ounces of pressure without breaking..
the weaker link will break long before the stress levels on the stronger dread will reach anywherre neawr dammaging levels
not that im a physics freak but seems to make sence that way to me anyways

wool and well anything u come on contackt with can leave behind fuzz its ok u can pick it out or let it disapear inside doesnt matter it never gets gross sticky or rotten like elastics would or anything like that
it just becomes part of the dread
