Very true. I did not mean any offence, but I was not given anything to say when confronted with a generalised "Wow, that's all brainwash propaganda."...other than what I did say. I could have said nothing, that is true.

You don't need to not say anything just think of a way to say it without becoming offensive man. Don't worry u havn't offended me recently lol. I voice my opinons but I always listen to others an' weigh each out as best I can before I give an answer so as not to offend anyone.

But sometimes you can't help but offend cause some cats take offense to anything no matter how hard u try not to offend them

    What a long sticky thread.

I'm confused. Does that not make you a war supporter?

    I'm not a pacifist, no.
I'd still support my reasoning for: "I still think the initial decision was the right one".
Nothing has changed my opinion there.
War is not always the right path, but it is sometimes.
I'd rather it did not occur.
So, no I'm not a "war supporter" out of principle, no.

But it is a difficult one.
It depends what your definition of a "war supporter" is.
    What is it?
Are you being specific about individual wars? - or any and every war going?
If you mean the latter, that one is for the mentally deviant, I'd imagine.
But saying that, if you are not a pacifist, you could be defined as a "war supporter".
I'm still not quite sure what "guys" definition is, but I answered in a way that was honest; he has not got me shipped out over there yet ;)

hmm.......My definition of a war supporter is someone who thinks that incredible violence is a justifiable and necessary response to what essentially boils down to a disagreement. That goes for both sides. Killing children is killing children whether they are in the world trade center or Iraq.

I will put it this way and perhaps you can understand my viewpoint: unless someone is willing to say that it is ok for their family to be killed...their father to be dragged into the street and shot, their mother to be raped and killed and their children to be bombed...unless they are willing to subject their family to that....then to say that a decision for war is the right one is rather hypocritical. Because then what one is saying is that it is ok for this to happen to other families...as long as it is not yours.
I'm not exaggerating...this is what war brings. How can you be ok with this? Help me to understand.

Yes, that pretty much sums it up for me. Either you are against war....or you are not. Either you are for peace....or you are not. Haven't you ever heard it said that, 'fighting for peace is like f****** for viginity'...?

As the tanks roll over you as you stand and do nothing - you lose.
If you put up a fight you can defend those that stand behind you, and hope to win.

To defend is honorable. To attack is abhorent. I don't see any tanks anywhere near us. All I see is our tanks attacking others. So what are you saying? That you support the insurgents in Iraq now?

    Who are our tanks attacking?
    Who are they defending?
Who are some of those tanks driven by (I'll give you a little clue - they live there).

No ofcourse I don't support the Insurgents.
They want to reinstal a group of people that oppress people.

I do appreciate directly or indirectly bad (to put it mildly) things occur in war.
But these things occur if you do nothing.
"Peace" on its own solves nothing.
Appeasement on the other hand can resolve issues.
On the other hand it can also be a hinderance (look at WW2).

I don't say: In my name go out and drag fathers out of their homes and shoot them; rape women, and kill bomb children.
    But these things occur.
    I know this.
At the end of the day...
I'd have to accept these things could happen to my family.
    They could happen anyway.

Maybe you need to define your concept of "peace" and how your "peace" solves something, anything...

Is this a rhetorical question? Do you really need an answer? Do you know how many people have died in the Iraq war?

They aren't defending anyone. It isn't defense when you are on someone else's land. Let's be honest. If there are tanks on our soil and an invading army on our soil then I encourage everyone to pick up a weapon. That, my friend, is defense.

You're going to have to clarify this statement before I can comment.

Why? They're only doing what you said to do:

I support anyone's right to fight against invaders from another country. I support America's right to fight against an attacking army and I support England's right to fight against an attacking army. Why is your sauce good for your goose, but not for your gander?

Ah, now here is the rub. I do understand that sometimes a military presence is needed to say...stop genicide. But really, how often has this been the reason for war? And note I said 'military presence' meaning that dropping bombs on civilians is not the answer. And more often then not, the places that truly need intervention (like Darfur, for example) are overlooked. Why? Because the real interest is not in spreading freedom or stopping oppression. The interest is in profit. And if you cannot see that, then we will probably never reach an understanding.

Says the war-monger. :D Sorry, couldn't resist. Hey man, give peace a chance. Really, if peace was employed, it would literally solve everything with regards to war. I feel like saying, "Try it! It's easy!"

It's not about that this could happen. It's about you being ok with subjecting other families to something that would be the destruction of your life and happiness. Please think about it.

That's too much for this post. But I will say that I'm glad that we've been able to discuss such a sensitive issue without it degenerating into childishness. So I thank you. :cheers2:

Peace... what is peace? America's teens are killing each other, joinin gangs, robbin' people over drugs an' money. America doesn't know peace. America can't know peace. We're too busy livin' for our damn selves while our society degenerates underneath us. What is peace? The right to have other countries invade yours? The right to fight back an' obliterate more people in 7 years than was lost to them in one days time? Are these rights that freedom and peace bring?

You disagree with my religious beliefs so I'm goin' to bomb you. You look different so lets shoot you. The world doesn't know peace. Someday I know we will but untill then I'll just have to hold on to the peace in my heart an' soul.

"You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one. I hope someday you'll join us, an' the world will be as one."
