Since I've read that you should only wash your dreads once a week, I've been wearing a shower cap the other days that I take a shower. What do you guys generally do? Would it hurt or help the process to let water run through my hair every day or every other day?
Its best not to wash that often straight after you get them I wear a shower cap It saves alot of time and effort! Alex
I wash my hair every couple of days. Clean hair dreads fastest. Wash them as often as feels comfortable for you.
Yeah I just keep my hair up in a troll like pony tail on the top of my head it looks hilariously awesome my hair takes a good 6 hours to dry.
I agree with sheepy. My hair feels tightest right after Ive washed it (when it's dry) so I do mine every couple of days. Tbh I think getting it wet wont hurt, but it's also not a massive difficulty to just not get ur hair wet in the shower, aim it down, it's all good. That said, I'm also a fan of the shower cap.... I dont know what I think really...(sorry!) x
if i shower i get em wet i usualy wash em when ever i shoeer if i got the enertgy it takes a long tim,e to wash em so i sometimes get lazy if i dont wanna get em wet i hanf em over something to keep em outta the way of the water mine take 38 hours to dru so i wash em alot leszssoften imn winter then summer
I let them get wet with the rest of my body basically every time i shower. they take a longggg time to dry and smell like mildew if you go to bed right after the shower. The time can be seriously be cut down by drying with a towel. If your head/hair feels gross after a while a quick vinegar soak/wash will strip them clean. Ive never had to (vinegar)wash them more than once in a month. If they're new there's no need to worry, you can still wash your hair. it's just hair, it does the same thing even with water..:cheers2:
I just tie it up when I dont wanna get em wet. it takes about 8-9 hours for them to get completely dry, so it's just unreasonable to do it all the time. but I do go swimming quite a bit, so they get wet then. although, it doesn't take quite as long for them to dry that way.
I back-combed two dreads then tried washing and they both fell out so once i did my whole head, haven't really washed it besides a rinse in this last 1.5 weeks since I got it, i'm worried they might fall apart again, do you guys think i should wait, i was thinking about waiting a month, and then showering for the first time.
I mean my hair isn't stinky or anything like that, and I dont naturally sweat much, so that why I was thinking I should wait. Also I have hair wraps over all of my dreads right now, not really sure what happens when u get salt and tea tree oil into hemp.
im gettin there pretty fast myself, man i wish i could post some pics but no digi camera ..just wash them with dirty hippie nag champa soap so if there dye they get angery and rush at each other thus lockin up man u dig that works for me they feel great if you put little bands on them and push them to you head with yer finger nails your hair will feel relived wen your scalp hits air in a room its like your head says "aaahhhhhhh thats great man" leave em in fer maybe a month or 4 weeks and your dreads will be thick and not frizzed a the scalp =] hope my knowledge helps ya if not (im srry ) that worked for me
