Is it just me or does this episode seem to portray a mushroom trip? I've never done mushrooms but from what I've heard, the episode seems pretty much on the ball. And it shows tripping in a good light too which is a plus. I mean come on, theres the stomach discomfort, freaking out, dilation of pupils, and finally accepting what's going on. Edit: Ok, I kind of figured that it wasn't like shrooms but keep in mind, the only psychedelics I've done are LSD, MDMA, PCP and DXM.
It always reminded me more of a peyote vision quest. Especially the fox spirit guide, who I associate with the desert. I havent seen that episode in literally like ten years. Why dont they ever show the old simpsons episodes in reruns?
I was going to suggest peyote too. A mushroom trip isn't straight up hallucinating, it's more a body high and a distortion of things around you. You wouldn't just see a fox, you would see something like a cat look like a fox.
lol! The simpsons are a trippy damn show, I believe Bill Hicks said it was his favorite and only tv show he ever watched. Theres a bunch of episodes where tripping comes in. ANother episode is when lisa and bart go to Duff land with aunt paddy, and lisa drinks the water on the ride and she goes outside with tracers everything and she says "I CAN SEE THE MUSIC!" lol, I want some tripping water. I'm sure there are more episodes but these two are classics.
Actually I think that it was a relatively good depiction, as far as commercialised television can go. some things occured because they were entertaining, but the way in which the trip effected homer.. well in that sense it was appropriate main difference is that a strong trip cannot support lots of dialog
"hey homer, hows it did doo diddily did do did didlly do diddly dooba daaba Hey!" -Ned "AHHAHHA" -Homer
