Anyone else deeply respect Modest Mouse (and Ugly Casanova)?
I mean there one of the only band I can listen to at anytime.

And when Im stoned they really feed my soul.

    Anyone else?

I love modest mouse, saw them at red rocks in 2007. Never heard of Cassanova.

One of my favorite modest mouse songs is called Please Bury Me, good tripping music.

They have been my favorite band for five years. Other bands pass in and out of that category, but Modest Mouse has firmly claimed the highest spot for all five years and I don't see it moving anytime soon. I saw them in 2006 and it is still my favorite musical experience ever.

"Feed my soul" is a great way to put it xora. Isaac Brock is my favorite lyricist. He's so clever with words. There's so much to dig into lyrically. They're silly at times and sublime at others...my favorite songs are

    Trailer Trash
    Dramamine
Talking Shit About A Pretty Sunset
    Bankrupt on Selling
    Other People's Lives
    Teeth Like God's Shoeshine
    Lives
    Spitting Venom

    They're like my musical soulmate.

  5. I agree, I really like Modest Mouse, especially the song 'Dramamine', really cool to trip out too

    :D

Dramamine was the song they opened with when I saw them live. It was really dark in the venue and the only light was kind of a dark bluish glow on the stage and then that haunting bassline emerged from the dark....it was otherworldy, in all seriousness.

    very similar to modest mouse.

and SILVERSUN PICKUPS; i don't know about similarity but they are good too.

  11. Another great band, I dig the song 'Three Seed', so relaxing...

I heard that before they got semi-popular their live shows sucked because Isaac got drunk before every one. But apparently he cleaned up his act, because they were fucking brilliant when I saw them. They extended Cowboy Dan into this 15 minute jam which was just epic. So definitely go if they're nearby. I drove 4.5 hours on a school night (with exams the next day) to see them. Worth it. :D

yeah they are a extraordinarily underrated band.

some of my favs: trailer trash, doin the cockroach, alone down there, i came as a rat, exit does not exist, here it comes, 3rd planet, karma payment plan, polar opposites, styrofoam boots, dramamine

in my humble opinion, their older stuff is far better than their last two cds.

I'm a diehard fan of their earlier stuff, but I do have to say that I love every single song on Good News.

I also enjoy at least half of the songs on the latest one. When the songs are good, they are phenomenal. When they are bad...well, they are pretty bad. It just seems like they didn't quite know what direction they were going with the album (could be from the weird, random collaborations with members of The Smiths and The Shins...?) But songs like Dashboard, Parting of the Sensory, Missed the Boat, and Spitting Venom are among the best Modest Mouse, in my opinion.

And Styrofoam Boots does indeed rock, hard. I LOVE the drumming at the end of it. Bit of trivia - Isaac wrote that song about an idea he had, about the mafia drowning people by making them walk upside down underwater. He's a crazy mother.
