Right, in my room is an old (empty) toy chest, with stacks of paper on top (i.e: no one ever looks in it) Here's some pics to get you an idea of the dimensions: The box inside is what my bong came in, it's a little bit taller than a plant pot. It's full of polystyrene if that'd be of any use. Current equipment: 3x 60Watt Fluorescent Bulbs 2x 40Watt Fluorescent Bulbs 2x flower pots Planning on just growing 2 plants in there, will those bulbs, (plus a lining of tin foil) handle that job? Also, I have a selection of fertilisers (my dad has a huge veg patch), which of these (if any) would be best: -fully rotted down grass clippings -growbag mix -(may not still have this) mushroom compost Also got plenty of babybio etc. I don't want to be using high power lights by the way so as not to attract any attention to it, also, does anyone know of any good power packs I could buy to avoid having cables running into the box? Cheers in advance and apologies if these are all 'search bar' type questions, I've looked but most seem to cover wardrobe type grows.
CFL Bulbs will be your best bet in that space, or some short T5 lights. They use very low amount of electric, and minimize heat buildup. As far as soil, i'd ditch the grass clippings, they tend to raise the soil ph too high. Go to a garden store, buy a small bag of potting soil. put your seeds/seedlings into some plain dirt until they are a couple inches tall (or the small round leaf at the bottom goes yellow). Then transplant to your potting soil. As far as nutrients, i KNOW people will bag on it, but Miracle Gro works wonders indoors for small plants. Just cut the instruction dosage in half. In that space i'd also focus on tying down the branchees to get more light around the plant.
Cheers man, I should be coming into some money this thursday so I'll pop into my local garden store and get a load of stuff. Think I've got some potting soil around here somewhere.
That should work pretty good, But you'll need to pick a pretty small strain lol. I'm probably gonna try the same thing with my dresser.
If detection is a concern, odor is a consideration. Also, you are probably going to need some sort of heat and air exchange. Cheers
I read that putting a bowl of vinegar in there takes care of small scale smell and that opening the box twice daily would take care of the ventilation. Can anyone recommend a strain? I heard somewhere that you have to put a fan in with them to strengthen the stems, would this be an issue with small plants?
