lard I know you need lard so you can maybe use bacon grease or margerine or butter if you have no lard in the house

    or shortening.

oh no, bacon grease will definitely work. although it's not healthy and could give off toxic fumes, the point isn't to be healthy. it's to eat pie. so for the OP i definitely would reccommend it.

    I am very cool :iagree:

You can use bacon grease for bannock, so why not pie? It doesnt need to rise does it?

lard is gross, and pastry is annoying. really annoying.
buy pre made pie crusts in the store. so much easier, and they usually come in twos so you can make one pie today, and another later!

my favorite pie (ok, its not technically pie) is a broccoli mushroom quiche... i can't wait for thanksgiving! my dad always makes that. and it reheats so well, i could eat it all day every day for a week, maybe even a month!

a few days ago, i made wontons. really yummy, but frying is essential.

and yesterday get ready :drool5: I made chocolate chip poundcake, but i forgot to add flour (because of altitude) so it came out REALLY dense, almost a brownie consistency. sooo delicious!

i can pass along the recipe, but it'll have to wait till tomorrow.
