obviously, we all hate the fact that weed is illegal. but what pisses me off the most about its illegality, is the fact that i smoke (well, one of the reasons anyway) to alter my state of mind, and the thoughts that my brain produces when i'm in said state of mind. this sounds very obvious, but the fact that the government is trying assert such an amount of power so that they can make sure i don't feel and think in a certain sort of way, is in my opinion, a very sinister prospect. some of the greatest thinkers and activists over the last several years have been pot smokers. i often wonder what the problem is in smoking, since overall i feel like stoners are a pretty peaceful and relatively harmless bunch, so it doesn't make sense that we're being penalized because of just smoking a plant. i think we're being penalized because whenever under a marijuana induced state, (and often psychedelic state for me) some of its users may be inspired to create a "ruckus" in the government's authority, and provoke change among the people. since they don't want to relinquish their authority, they continue to fill jail cells with great minds and peaceful people, who are often forced into shady drug deals because they can't do it in a more relaxed and safe environment. so i dont want to make weed legal just for the sake of being able to get stoned (although obviously it's one of the reasons) i want to make it legal so that our society may develop its tolerance for others who lead a lifestyle that may vary from the norm, but also so that progress can be made in the development of our race as a whole. i know this was long, but i appreciate whoever took the time to read it. what are your thoughts?
definitely, instead of throwing smokers in jail, they should be making themselves useful and focusing more on the actual threats to society, such as rapists, murderers, and child molesters. but whatever, i guess that justs MAKES SENSE. grrr.
People are afraid of what they don't know, and since weed has never been extremely pervasive in Western society (certainly not to the level that alcohol has been), many people in the mainstream haven't been exposed to it. Many people in mainstream society either don't know anyone who smokes or they only know a few, and those people all fit their stereotypical image of the burnt-out, hippie, stoner. Also, while there a lot of people who smoke and lead productive, fulfilling lives, often times they aren't open about their pot smoking, because they fear the stigma attached to it. Since most of mainstream America has no experience with weed or pot smokers, their only source of information is the government, and they just eat up the lies about how pot destroys the world. I think we could get pot legalized if we informed the public about weed and how it's less harmful than alcohol and if we showed everybody that it's not just Cheech and Chong that smoke weed; it's doctors, lawyers, businessmen, and all other types of people that they respect.
You're crazy if you think weed is illegal to prevent you from thinking differently lol... It'll be legal in our lifetimes so whatever, we'll be able to tell our grandkids that we smoked when it was illegal. Something to look forward to haha
i disagree. it's not crazy to think that. if you're right about it, then show your wisdom. tell us: why is it illegal??:toetap05:
it's illegal cause the governments fucked up and are throwing smokers in jail while meanwhile some douche is out raping someone or killing them. There are things more dangerous out there. Look at alchohol. You can get alchohol poisoning, you can do so many stupid things when your drunk, you could make a list of why drinking is worse than smoking weed. But I guess it makes sense that weed is illegal and alchohol isnt.
I'm pretty sure we will see outright legalization in our lifetimes. Our current consumption of resources is unsustainable. We'll have to use hemp for many things since what we normally use to produce things will be too costly and rare. After industrial hemp is grounded, ppl will see that the drug cannabis is misunderstood and can be much more than what they knew before
Yeah u are right makes sens to switch to hemp coz oil is running out fast and from hemp u can pretty much make the same sorta stuff like fuel plastic clause...joint XD
I love telling people I smoke weed. They are like WHAT!?! Really. I am the standard prep type with business suit type guy you could posiblly know. I like to inform people about weed and talk about it with them it. This is why I am on this forum a lot. I like to hear everyone talk about weed. Not so much the other drugs but I understand them.
Mexicans is why its illegal. Not that Mexicans are bad, its that the US governemnt didnt like that the mexicans were smoking it and it would make you evil and shit, im not gonna go into detail because you've probably heard this all before.
Weed makes me giddy, being ripped makes me laugh and makes things harder to understand. I do not get ambitious, revolutionary thoughts and I don't know of anybody that does. I think that weed is more symbolic of a counter cultural movement than anything that's threatening to the government. The closest thing to a radical thought I have when I'm high is that weed should be legal but I rarely even think that. Weed such a non-issue with my friends, family, at school, or even in my neighborhood that it just doesn't matter to me lol... I don't understand how you can say it won't be legal in our lifetime. Medical marijuana in California is a huge step, that gives people a license to smoke and isn't difficult to get. I know of people who have said that they have MIGRAINES and that's all you need to get it. Decriminalization of possession of a zip or less will probably pass in MA pretty soon, another step in the right direction - though dealing is still a criminal offense. In 30 or 40 years, when our age group is in power, we'll see some REAL progress.
I never answered why it's illegal. Honestly, I don't know. I just know it isn't to prevent crazy thoughts haha
that's awesome. I seriously appreciate you doing that. The ones who are capable of keeping a nontoker persona are exactly the ones who should be honest about their taste for the herb. We gotta keep up with the ones who are unable to manage themselves/unable to keep their pot a secret, a double whammy for the pro-cannabis movement. Ppl just need to know that there's a huge number of responsible people around them who toke up
i think its illegal because if it were legal it would take over some industries cos it can prodouce energy (biomass) and it can produce like 4x as much pulp as trees in the same time. also the seeds are the best natural source of protein on earth. .it would also make tobbaco a thing of the past, but seeing as though these industries have already gotten super rich, theyre using their money to keep weed illegal through propaganda so they can remain super rich something like that anyway
