There are tons of people I like and respect here. If I like someone I am going to let them know. I respond to their posts and PM's. But what is up with the brown nosing posts? Not only can it make the person you posted about feel uncomfortable it also opens up a window for others to take shots at the person being posted about. When I see posts like this it makes me think of the teachers pet and corporate "yes" men. Meh, just my opinion. If you disagree, that is cool.
some people need to hear it sometimes, and if they're getting one, it's nice to cover at least SOME other people. that's how I interpret the trend. doesn't seem like brown nosing to me, it seems more along the lines of we've known each other awhile, and we usually often make jokes and bullshit with each other, but sometimes it's nice to tell others we really do value them. I value the members of this community,
I didn't think of it that way honestly. I was just responding to the other similar posts on the forums and i meant no harm or anything. I wouldn't wnt to make anyone uncomfortable.
I value the members of this community too. A private message to me in more sincere than posting a thread about someone. A PM also does not open a door for other people to attack the person. But hey, it is just my opinion.
it's like everyone at the office signing a birthday card. it might not be the best way to do it, but it is A way.
You did not do any harm. I just saw a thread talking about someone. It does not matter who. Then there were several posts agreeing with the O.P. and then other members taking pot shots at the person being posted about. You did nothing wrong. I just kind of got upset at some posters taking shots at the person being posted about. I really think the person being posted about was real cool and it was kind of sad watching others get their little hits in. You are cool in my book. So is the person you posted about.
It's election season in the U.S. 'Tis the season for kissing up. Come to think of it, it's been election season for the past two years in the U.S. .
Those threads are really annoying. I do post in them. But that doesnt change the fact that they're annoying. So I aint making anyone a thread ! :leaving:
How can a thread in RT be annoying? They always wander so far from their original intent that the thread title rarely matters. Unless its a Mak thread.
Sigh.... It is always election season in the U.S. I suppose that is a good way of looking at it. It really is no big deal.
I think they were a backlash to a few nastier threads about people. I saw one positive and then they snow balled. I even asked for one for myself and got one about being tolerated (not loved etc ) - It is all good fun.
I really appreciate you responding. I have watched your posts and have seen others dedicate threads to you. In the past it has made you uncomfortable having threads dedicated to you. It would make me feel very uncomfortable too. Thanks again for posting.
Thank you. But on reflection I am singling out people in this thread almost the same way as they are doing by dedicating threads to others. So that makes me the same as them. Personal insights can be a bitch. I am still not a fan of kiss up threads. Okay I suppose that would explain it. That was clearly a fun thread though. And you did ask for it. So I was not really talking about that thread. I will just have to learn to chill out more.
Almost the same? too much creedence. A thread, as it stands, is a much more powerful thing than a post.
I made one stating I don't like people... And they thought I was kidding... if they only knew... :leaving:
