Wilmington Police Department News Release Friday, August 22, 2008 WPD Announces New Initiative Targeting Loud Parties and Noise Complaints The Wilmington Police Department is launching a new initiative this weekend against loud parties and noise complaints, especially in residential neighborhoods surrounding UNCW. The effort has been planned with the full cooperation and support of UNCW, UNCW Police, and North Carolina Alcohol Law Enforcement (ALE). During the past year (August 1, 2007 – July 30, 2008), WPD officers in Districts 5 and 6 (eastern side of the city) responded to approximately 2000 calls for services relating to noise violations. This level of disorder has a significant impact on quality of life in the affected residential neighborhoods. According to Sergeant Mary Green, coordinator of the new initiative, loud parties often are accompanied by underage drinking and illegal drugs. The new plan calls for “zero tolerance” for these violations. The new initiative is scheduled to begin tonight (Friday) and will continue for at least the next 30 days.
that sucks so bad! you better watch out now.. cops are cracking down at my college campus too and lol at weak sauce. haha
man one of my homies was going to college down there but he transferred this year haha, prolly a goood thing he's out of there. i hear alot of ppl down in Wilmington are pricks.
There are bars right across the street from the campus here... if anyone is having a "house party" its cuz they ARE minors.. so why not target those parties.. around here house parties start at 1am.. they are called after-bars.. they never get busted
My town has a policy that it started last year where your door can get an orange sticker if you get a noise complaint. After that sticker is in place, the police need no reason to come harass you except that you have the sticker. Removal of the sticker is a $500 fine.
the party i was at for 15 minutes got busted and it was hilarious, everybody scattered like the fucking gooks had snuck up on us (i'll consider that an ode to joker) i was just like, "hmm." someone pointed out a hole in a fence which was basically a giant hole in a small fence. we casually walked away, and then back to my house where all sorts of goodness started to ensue
I hid in the woods at the party I was at, even though there was really no need because in my experience, when the cops bust a party, they just tell everyone to go home. If you don't start trouble, there won't be any. But I hid anyway just for shits and giggles.
