consciousness remaining after death.

    what religions believe that a person's consciousness does not fade after death and keeps.. working?

    I guess "folk". A lot of people who live in countries where the "official" religion is one that does not entertain the existence of ghosts do still believe that the soul lingers on. So it could be said to be an areligious belief, which some religions happen to be more sympathetic to.

    All the Judeo-Christian religions, ancestor cults... it would be quicker to list religions which do not hold that consciousness survives the physical death of the brain. Anyone think of one?

    Most religions believe that consciousness goes to an afterlife though, rather than staying around here. That's how I read the thread topic, as meaning that consciousness stays on earth.
