I loved Richard Scarry. I totally forgot about that. Those books were the best . My kids love the book "Goodnite Moon", "I'll Love You Forever" and dammit, I cant remember the other book. Its about some kid and a tree.
necronomicon actually, i've read a high percentage of the books listed here as well as lots of others. but i've always read a book just once (except when i was really small and my mom was reading to me of course) so it's hard to really develop a favorite.
The Phantom Tollbooth. Written by Norton Juster and illustrated by Jules Feiffer. Brilliant! Read it in 3rd grade. About a kid named Milo that seems bored with life. Then a package arrives with a small car and a tollbooth. He sets up the tollbooth and drives the car through it and ends up in a very strange world. The humor of some of the things he sees and learns is wonderful. As an adult I read it and still love the play on words and how it pokes fun at the world.
Oh crap!! I forgot "Put me in the Zoo"...............I just bought myself that book like two years ago, came with a stuffed animal and everything
pokey little puppy. i wanted a puppy so bad. i finally got one when i was in my teens. she was such a sweet baby. she'd sleep in a little box next to my bed (which was a mattress on the floor) and whenever she whined, i could just put my hand on her. but finally my parents decided that "dogs are for the outside" and stuck her in the side yard. she never messed in the house, i don't know what the problem was. but she had a bird's nest next to her favorite sleeping corner, and the mama bird would sometimes sit on her. one time that i saw, a baby bird fell out of the nest and trusty took care of it until mama came back. so sweet.
It's funny because the other day I was looking for books to get for Jack and almost got him that one, but ended up getting others, but now I should get it for both of us. I feel like Im missing out.
