So..I decided to try going overnight without my plugs in to see if I can thicken my lobes a bit. But when I put them back in when I wake up, it kind of stings and there is a bit of pressure for about ten minutes. Then they're totally back to normal. No pain or discomfort at all. I'm just curious if this is normal?...or do I need to wait a bit more before I can keep em out that long?
The pain is caused by your ear being forced open after it has been trying to close and adjust back to normal.
Alright I figured that was the case. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't causing some type of damage =]
no, it's just tighter than what you're trying to put through it. i wouldn't do it every night or anything, but you shouldn't be causing any lasting harm. confused though... how does this thicken your lobes?
Honestly..I have no idea Read about someone who had used the technique on bodymod.org and they had really nice lobes, so I decided to try it out.
That method works best when your lobes are really loose. They should feel snug in the morning when you insert the jewelry, but it shouldn't hurt. It's also a nice way to keep your lobes from stretching up to the next size. I leave my jewelry out at night when it starts to fall out on its own during the day.
lobes that are bigger than a 00g and are completely healed benefit by removing the jewelry overnight. By removing them you increase the blood flow to the lower part of the lobe therefore (in some cases) helps thicken the lobes. my husband and I remove our plugs or tunnels every night. It shouldn't hurt or cause paint to put them back in in the morning. If it hurts or is uncomfortable, your ears need to heal a little longer. It is recommended once you get at or above a 00g to remove them for a few hours a day (if not overnight) to help prevent thinning of the lobe from heavier jewelry. (most of the time you only have to start worrying about thinning after you get to 1/2" or larger)
