I was after getting a tattoo done in one of the UV inks that is invisible until its under black light, as opposed to the ones that are like normal inks but glow under UV. I asked at the place where my brother gets his tat's done but the bloke said that the inks are shit so he doesn't bother with them. The thing I had in mind was going to be on the back of my hand hence not wanting it to be too obvious (im told you can see the ink's in strong sunlight) Has anybody had any experience of these things or can offer any alternatives?
Everything causes cancer nowadays, until they start telling me the chances of it causing cancer i couldn't give a fuck. I'm drinking aspartame right now.
uv inks = crap....unfortunately. I love the idea behind it and would love to get one done, when the ink choice is better. most artists wont work with UV ink because the it's hard to use. It tends to penetrate the skin unevenly, leading to the uv glow to look sorta....lopsided. In the next 5 years or so they say new UV inks are coming out so if you can wait a few more years....;o) I don't believe they cause cancer, but I have heard of reactions to the inks. Imagine, if you have a reaction and its now imbedded in you skin...ouch! additional note: UV ink tattoos can be seen in normal light; they aren't completely invisible. It looks like a faint scar. Here's a link to a pretty big collection of UV ink: http://www.bmezine.com/tattoo/uv001.html enjoy all!
its says on the bottle that it contains a known carcinogen don't understand how it can be any clearer
So its going to give me cancer the same day, in a week, after I take a bath in it every day for 10 years? There's an awful lot of known carcinogens out there and banging an OMGWTFCANCER label on them just desensitises us to the whole issue. If they put some real information on them then people may start paying attention but for now I can only assume 99.9% of known carcinogen warnings mean "linked to cancer by one study and has a 1 in 100000 chance of giving you cancer during your lifetime"
I thought it would be cool to get sleeves in invisible UV ink, but I don't know. I costs about 3 times as much, its hard to work with, they run a higher risk of being allergic since they're made from different materials than regular ink (My boyfriend said they're made of fish scales), and I hard they fade really fast.... But it'd be awesome if they had one that lasted and was completely invisible, wouldn't it?
