I'm an alchy. My liver is used to being abused.

 

I have to get a blood test every month for my liver enzymes, alcoholics don't have that.

Why do you have to get your liver enzymes tested every month?

 

because, I might suddenly develop massive liver necrosis, throw my enzymes, and were I to continue to take zonegran the toxicity would mount and I would die. or at the very least need a new liver.

the anticonvulsant I am on (anti-seizure med) is fairly toxic (almost all anticonvulsants are) and it's absorbed QUITE readily by liver cells. so, it kills people livers if they're on it too long, the idea however is, that virtually all anticonvulsants stop working in virtually all cases (breakthrough seizures occur) and the patient has to switch meds, idea is, it'll stop working (and be gone from the epileptics lifestyle) before liver toxcicity gets to be relevant.

I'm probably due to switch to carbetrol, I don't want to though, as my liver is okay, and it's got some REALLY nasty side effects.

Oh, you're epileptic. I didn't know that. A good friend of mine is/was epileptic, but he hasn't had a seizure in years. I don't even think he takes medicine for it anymore.

 

my last seizure was the sunday before I broke up with my now ex... I think I should have waited a week to make any decisions because, I regret the fuck out of that one.
