    Hi there,

I'm not a nudist, and this is purely out of respectful curiosity, but what do you do when its cold? I guess this is a question for people that try to be naked/barefoot 24/7. When weather necesitates it, do you just wear normal close or do you preffer something like a robe or shall that is less conventional.

    Cheers

I get by on as little as possible even though I'm in a cold climate. As I post here on occasion, there is a kind of cold I cannot ever imagine someone from Ventura, or indeed most of CA, ever sees; when safety becomes paramount, more than just comfort. That's what stops me. I'm only really ever naked out at the lake and a few such places in the deep woods.

I'm afraid the shoes and clothes go on for me as soon as the winter comes. I have some problems with frost bite and although I love naturism and barefooting I don't need to do something that will cause me physical pain and constant discomfort...I think everything is about personal choice though so if it is good for someone to winter barefoot that's sweet for them, but it's just not good for me or my health personally.

Missing warm seasons at this point.
    PEACE&LOVE!

I've been a nudist for so many years now that cooler weather doesn't bother me that much, and I try to stay nude as much as possible. While I do wear shoes or sandals, etc, much of the time, that is often all that I wear, even in the cooler winter months. I suppose if I lived in the midwest, instead of California, I might change my attitude about winter nudity.

:p it goes to like -45 degrees here in the winter, and there's all these warning about not letting your skin be exposed for certain amounts of time. I think being naked outside for too long would kill me...but it makes the spring summer fall especially more exciting!

-45° *brrrr* - and it doesn't really matter, if that's C or F. Either way, it's really cold.

When it comes to barefooting, I have already done some snow-footing. The coldest occurance was some years ago, when I was together with a few people around New Year's Eve in the Harz - a mountain region in the middle of Germany. (One mountain there, the Brocken, is famous in German folklore and fairy tales as a traditional gathering spot for witches.) There was about a meter of snow up there, and the day temperatures were at about -10° C (i.e. 14° F). I was outside, waving a few friends goodbye, as they departed in their car. I was walking around a little barefoot in the deep snow, wearing jeans and a t-shirt. After about 10 minutes, I began to feel a little chilly - not on my feet, but on my bare arms, and decided to get back inside. On grabbing the door knob, I felt my palm sticking to the frosty metal... well, that was cold enough for me.

As for barefooting, my recipe for coldfooting is to bundle up warmly, and keeping my overall body temperature high. My namesake big belly also provides a grown insulation, for sure. In my spare time, I regularly go barefoot as long as temperatures don't drop too low below freezing level. One way to protect barefeet against the cold and to prevent them from drying out in wet cold weather, is to apply bag balm onto them. That stuff insulates and moisturizes the feet and, furthermore, gives them a very shiny and gleamy look.

When it comes to nudity, I am a full-time indoor naturist. Ín case I need to wake up swiftly in the early morning, I also have a quick smoke together with a swig of hot coffee on my balcony in the nude.

My regular naturist outdoor season starts on warm spring days and goes until the last warm fall days.

Since right now I am facing the windy fall season, outdoor nudity is kind of stopped, and I am looking forward to the resurrection of naturist season coming spring.

    wiggling my toes,

I decided to go completely barefoot all the time about six months ago, and decided at that time to not carry flip flops or other shoes with me. Whether it was hot or cold I just had to adapt. It did not take long. Now I don't even think about it. It's been between thirty and fifty the last couple of weeks, and the cold has not bothered me a bit. My feet never feel cold. Your body adapts.

with barefooting, i wear shoes in winter.

with my nudism, i wear clothes if its too cold to be comfortable naked at home. my flat is pretty warm so nudity is usually possible even on cold days, but i dont like to crank my heat way up cuz i have to pay the bills (and also think of the environment) so if its really cold i'll put som,e clothes on or if im just chilling out in the evening, wrap my naked self in a duvet on the sofa.

obvioulsy i only go nude outside when its not cold.

While running barefoot in the snow is certainly a rush, I don't try doing it on a constant basis :) That's to say I wear shoes and clothes when it's cold! (though they come off in a hurry when I get half a chance).

Now here's something that'll wake ya up: Russian steambath in the middle of winter. The tradition is to get all nice and hot, then open the door and jump into a pile of snow butt-naked. And then run back in. It's the most intense temperature difference I've ever experienced. (And it's likely to give you a heart attack if you are not terribly sturdy).

It never gets really cold where I live but I've been known to meditate nude on the beach when it's around freezing. Generally though I think it's just plain common sense to wrap up when it gets chilly.

I don't mind the cold at all; I have fur. I hate the warm weather though, because I tend to pant when I'm too hot.
