McCain takes aim at Obama’s character

It looks like the Republicans are going negative again. They can’t possibly run on the record of George the Incompetent. All they have left are the politics of personal destruction and the politics of identity. The Republican slogan is going to be, “Vote for John McCain. He’s a real American (unlike Barack Hussein Obama)."

I know. He looks like him, sounds like him, acts like him, and we get the added bonus of senior moments this time around (not just a shot at his age- I've SEEN them). Please god no...

Unfortunately (for him) all he has to go on is spreading fear.

I thought it was going to be "Vote for Archie, not Lionel".

Unfortunately, John McCain’s dirty campaign tactics are working. As of today (August 2) he has erased Barack Obama’s advantage. According to the latest Gallup Poll, each has a 44% approval rating.

Apparently a lot of Americans are impressed by the comparison McCain has made between Obama, Britney Spears, and Paris Hilton. :(:(

Going negative is the only way the Republicans can win. The GOP exists in order to advance the economic interests of the richest 10% of the country. It does that by raising the national debt, trashing the environment, and reducing the standard of living of the remaining 90%.

Non-whites who are not rich - and I am white myself - usually have too much sense to vote Republican. Most low income whites are easily distracted by appeals to fear and hate. They are not libertarians. They are authoritarians.

Yup, the Democrats will save us. All we need to do is vote Obama in and everything will be good again. Nevermind the fact that he and his cohorts support the Patriot Act, warrantless wiretaps, and whatever else the Republicans are pushing. If we all just parrot the right slogans about change, everything will be good again, like when Clinton was in office and bombing Serbia and launching rockets on aspirin factories that were supposedly making weapons.

Like Lenin said, we shall win with slogans.

Yup, the Democrats will save us. All we need to do is vote Obama in and everything will be good again.

I don't think there's any widespread belief that the damage caused by eight years of GOP rule can be fixed in a single presidency, or even a generation for that matter. We live in a society that loves and applauds military power, police authority, taserings, prisons, and the technology to dump human bodies into all of the above. At best he might slow the rush into total domestic high-tech security/militarism.

As someone else here pointed out, most people in the US have everything they really NEED. Food, shelter (often), fuel, business space, and durable goods are all provided by transnational corps and manufactured outside the US, so what can we sell to this global economy? Preferably as a country uniquely do that leads the world and launches another tech revolution, with us in the lead?

Dems talk of using renewable energy resources, developing new technology to sell to the world, but who knows if the investment would actually pay off. I'm doubtful, but not sure there's a choice in the long-term.

Repubs clearly see law enforcement, surveillance, DNA technology, weapons/robotics tech, drug enforcement, prison systems, and all that as the service to perfect and offer at good prices to the world.

There's a natural geek inclination to say "kewl!" when we hear of a new 8-legged infrared-vision robot that can crawl, climb, swim, and fly after illegal aliens crossing the Mexican border, relaying data to hovering RC helicopters above that swoop down and blast them with a unique infrared marker so that they can be tracked down electronically through a grid of markers defined by satellites or some such thing, taking them to a prison, like in some old adage, operated by only a man and a dog.

The man is there only to feed the dog. The dog is there to kill the man if he reaches for the door handle. But no, we really gotta put the brakes on this rush into making this country the world's best example of a police state whose toys and methods are for sale.

All this just my opinion while evaluating the words of Bill Maher.

"I'll tell ya why kids today smoke pot. Cuz the shit is GOOD." -Bill Maher

Bush was so popular that dead people were voting for him don't ya know....

GW swayed the Christian right by telling them he was going to end abortion and keep gay marriage from happening. Which by the way he has not produced one piece of legislation for especially not abortion. Ron Paul is the only person in government who has produced a pro life bill which was completely ignored by our friend McCain and Bush....

Some people have a theory that GW's good friend at "Diebold"(voting machine company)may have lent a helping hand...

So he either won by lying or fraud most likely.

My wife is among those who truly believe the election was flat-out stolen by Bush in 2004. I'm not yet convinced, but all new evidence is on her side of the argument, and there's lots of it.

I know several people who believe the same --- the thing in that book a couple of weeks back make me think similar as to what the extent he'll go to accomplish his goals.

both candidates and both parties will use very dirty tactics in this election.... nothing is off the table at this point.... I think history is a very good indicator of this.

Calling anyone who disagrees with them "unAmerican" or "Anti-American"
has become the Republican battle cry!

It's up to the rest of us to remind them how "Anti-American" many of the Republican policy's are!!

I served in the US Army, And if Bush was in front of me calling my beliefs
Anti-American I'd punch him in the mouth!!

Then let's keep them guessing, neither party should feel they own your vote. They should earn it and not with empty promises or soundbites... with actions.
