Hey now! Just to give you an idea of my sewing skill set (or lack of one). I've only recently started machine sewing, mostly reconstructing/recycling old clothes into something new and different. I'm slowly (painfully slowly) teaching myself through online tutorials and forums. I've finished a few projects, but haven't made anything from scratch or from a pattern since I was a little girl. Anyway, my hubby has some patchwork cord shorts that he wants me to fix for him. They are just a standard pair of cord shorts that have had two rows of cord patches added to each side seam. They look to have been made very well and all the patchwork is serged, but several of the cord patches are fraying and have separated from the other patches and main shorts. Personally, I think they look fine that way, but he wants to have them fixed, which I suppose is best, since eventually they will completely fall apart. Anyway, I was just wondering if you kynd folks had any tips for working with corduroy and/or mending it. Is there anything I can do short of replacing the patches completely? I was thinking about just sewing a cotton lining under the patched portions to give them a bit more strength. Any tips or ideas? TIA! Dawn "Without love in the dream it will never come true."
Gotcha! I'll try and take some photos and get them posted. Thanks! Dawn "Without love in the dream it will never come true."
