The conceptual categories gay or strait, hetro & homo did not exist in the first century AD. In any case the Church declared war against the flesh after the passing of the Nazarean. "Platonism for the sheople"
No, Jesus doesn't love FAGS!!! When Jesus was alive he didn't have to deal with homos because they kept hidden. And whenever he suspected someone of being a gay, like if Jesus and Judas were sitting on a log together watching the sunset, and Judas would say, "Isn't it beautiful Jesus?" then Jesus would give Judas a look like he was a queer and start scooting away. This is why Judas eventually betrayed Jesus, btw, unrequited gay love.
Are you talking to me? I was being sarcastic. So don't be a fucking asshole. It's beyond me how something so blatantly joking could go over anyone's head.
Would Jesus love a gay person? I would think not! Wasn't homosexuality a great taboo among the ancient Israelites, one that called for severe sanctions?
Dude what this comes down to is the person who wrote the bible. Whatever this persons opinions or feelings on these matters, were transfered into it.
Jesus doesn't hate gay people or anyone else. i'm frequently frustrated by the way people use old testament mentality to define all christians. i am catholic and i don't feel that gay people are evil or that anyone who works on sundays should be stoned to death. the nifty thing about christianity, and all faith, is that it is malleable. the fundamental beliefs (Jesus as God, being good to others) do not change, but other view points grow and evolve based on the culture and experiences of believers.
Of course Jesus would love a gay person.. love the person, hate the action..the bible does strictly prohibit gay sexual relations..so he would not look so fondly upon that.
Jesus would not judge, bible or not. He would offer advice on how to deal with it in that day and time. And in that day and time, it was quite common. The Greeks were rather fond of it and the Greeks had a considerable presence in Jesus' world. x
The interesting thing is that there isn't a single word in the Bible about what Jesus thought about gays. We'd just have to guess. Why is that? It doesn't seem to have been a high priority issue to him. He had things to say about divorce (He was against it), but Evangelical Christians seem to have no problem backing divorced men (Reagan, McCain) as presidential candidates. Paul has unfavorable things to say about gays. Can we conclude that Jesus felt the same way? I don't. Paul never met Jesus while He was alive, and Paul didn't seem to have an extensive knowledge of Jesus' teachings. I think Paul was probably drawing on Old Testament law and natural law. At minimum, I think we can probably say, along with the late Jerry Fallwell, that Jesus, and probably also Paul, would love the sinner, if not the act itself. But the statement that Jesus would probably have liked gays because the Greeks did and there were lots of those around is probably unfounded. The Jewish circles in which Jesus travelled were resisting Hellenism, and if the Greeks were pro-gay , that would probably be a reason a devout Galilean Jew would oppose it. But we just don't know.
Maybe Jesus would but not in that way. Jesus would try to give the gay advice to change. It is clear in the Bible. I believe a true christian obeys the word of God. In this day, we pick and choose which laws to obeyt snd which to go against. I am not against a gay. But perhaps they are better people than I. My sexuality is quesrionable.
Hare Krishna ! Yes, dear JOhn, you are right. But the question was whether Jesus would love a gay. How can He not? He could not hate even the people who crucified Him ! He is the Lord of forgiveness and love. Love, Kumar.
