I just found out my sister has lung cancer. Any one know about any holistic herbs or diet which might help her?
I don't know of any herbs or diet. I have had oncologist recommend Oncovite (ie oncology vitamin) to cancer patients. I have also seen Iressa and Thalomid used along with chemotherapy with some good results. Your aunt will probably have radiation, and her esophagus will probably get burned. Make sure she asks her doctor for some Rx Magic Mouthwash (Carafate/diphenhydramine/viscous lidocaine 2 or 4% 1:1:1) or Klacks solution (TCN/nystatin/dexamethasone or fluocinolone/diphenhydramine), or maybe both, to alternate with. If the burn is really bad & she won't eat, make sure she at least drinks some Boost or Ensure, or eats Boost pudding. It is important for her to continue getting nutrition and calories. I wish her well.
Photo has some good supportive therapies. Make sure she checks with her oncologist before she does any herbs or supplements or anything not prescribed by her doctor. And please don't let her substitute real medical care for "alternatives." Cancer is too serious and deadly to waste time experimenting. I hope she heals well.
Do you mean in already diagnosed patients? Do you have a reference for this? Even proven medical treatments aren't this effective! I have serious doubts that simply eating carrots will cure cancer.
look into: essiac chelation therapy get your sister to a naturopath who is experienced in treating people with cancer. like maggie said: Cancer is too serious and deadly to waste time experimenting. diet: a good start would be to eat only real whole foods that look like they did when they were still growing. Look into Abram Hoffer: orthomolecular medicine. he's a doctor who specializes in treating cancer thru diet. gah!! blech!! read the ingredient list on those things before you even think about giving them to someone who already has cancer.
I agree that whole foods are much better, but they are kinda hard to eat when your esophagus is burned. It is like a severe sunburn inside your throat. Even liquids will hurt, but they will be more tolerable.
there are a bunch of complementary therapies listed on this link: http://www.bccancer.bc.ca/PPI/UnconventionalTherapies/default.htm dude, her sister has lung cancer. that wouldnt necessarily involve radiation of the esophageal area. depends on which part of the lung is involved. IF she has a sore throat there are plenty of whole foods that can be blenderized or pureed. difficulty swallowing is far more common with mouth or throat cancers. anyways, cosmic Jane, the biggest thing is for your sister to maintain a positive attitude towards her cancer. i knew a guy who was diagnosed with small cell carcinoma of the lung and he beat it.
I've heard that drinking 3-5 cups of green tea a day can cut the risks of heavy smokers form devoloping lung cancer by 70%. It might help to keep it from spreading while she is treated.
Dude, your esophogus goes in between your lungs, they treat an entire area for two reasons: _1. The radiation does not have very specific aim _2. They purposely treat a large area to make sure they get all the cancer
Yes, if she has lung cancer there WILL be radiation therapy and it WILL hit the lungs. nimh, look at your Gray's Anatomy. The esophagus is involved. No way to really protect it.
