Over the last couple of days there's be much in the media about how women are more likely to vote for Bush because he makes them feel "safer". It's driving me nuts. I can't believe that this MORON is going to be re-elected because insecure women think of him as a protector, and fail to grasp the long-range consequences of Bush's hard-line policies. Seriously ladies, wake up... 1,100 American soldiers are dead because of Bush's war in Iraq, tens of thousands of innocent civilians have been killed, Iraq is on the verge of all-out anarchy, and global terrorism has become more of a threat because of Bush's crusading policies. How can this make you feel "safer"????

Yeah I would know. I live with a female that believes in giving up liberties for tighter security. We clash on just about every subject.

On the other hand, if that's what they want to support, so be it. I support what I want, everyone should do the same.

So I would assume this girl you live with is just a roomate and not a girlfriend. Sounds like a big conflict of interests.

The media figures if they report it people will think that's how other people feel. What's crazier is people actually think the media has a liberal bias, Not!

Yes, there are a lot of these so-called "security moms" (as the media calls them), who are basically your typical, braindead, Astro Van-driving, soccer mom idiots that think terrorism is such an imminent threat that their children will be in placed immediate danger if dumbass isn't re-elected.

They think the man who let 9/11 happen -- if not helped it to happen -- is going to "protect" them.

These "security moms" are your archetypal IDIOT AMERICANS. When I think of the dumbest Americans, I think of these soccer mom types; these fucking suburbanite, stay-at-home-drink-coffee-and-watch-Maury-types.

I need a minivan to go with my mini-soccerball that hangs from the rearview mirror.

People have always been like that: scared, afraid they couldn't make it on their own, afraid they couldn't hold their own..that's how government got to thriving in the first place.

I don't know if polls are entirely "bullshit media hype" but I find them innocuous nonetheless, and think that should be banned during election campaigns.

Heh, actually, yesterday I saw a "soccer mom" driving a mini-van with anti-Bush stickers on it. One of them said "Join the MOB - Mothers Opposing Bush." I was pretty surprised...

There are exceptions to every rule. But the fact of the matter is that these people represent a significant demographic, and the fact that they can base their political opinions on something so inane, is disturbing. Do these people honestly think that Kerry or anyone else elected to the presidency would twiddle their thumbs if America was threatened?

Hey quit talkng about my mom :p

Not really. but I was watching the debate Friday night, didn't see the first one. I was saying things like "wow, Bush is reeally fucking up, he must be doing worse than the first time." My brother replied "he's actually doing better this time." Basically I thought Kerry destroyed Bush. My mother, who is votying for Kerry, told me she thought Bush won, and she didn't like the way Kerry was attacking him.

    I couldn't believe it.

That's another thing; one interview on TV that I saw with a group of these "security moms" many of them complained that Kerry was being "negative" when he criticized Bush's invasion of Iraq. And then there was something in the news about Kerry's "tonal qualities," or something to that effect, that when he was attacking Bush, he was speaking too much from the throat, and that this was making a negative impression on some women voters. In other words, these people aren't going to vote for Kerry because he's trying to hold Bush accountable for his mistakes (and/or deceptive conduct) and because his voice is too deep. That's just brilliant.

My La Leche League group is mostly SAHMs or part time work moms. Most of them drive minivans (hey, so do I, with four kids and a dog and freinds, it is hard to get around in a two seater!) and with the exception of one of them, NONE of them are Bush supporters. Of course, these are pretty smart, involved, think before they knee jerk react womyn.

Even my MIL (pretty reactionary most of the time) isn't voting for Bush. That is saying something, I don't think she or my FIL have ever NOT voted Republican, no matter who was running.
