Whitechapel - This is Exile I had a flashback to the early days of 1993. Death metal had just about peaked, and many people were looking for the next big thing -- in terms of style. Brutality was the catchphrase, and since millions of American kids had just rediscovered early Napalm Death thanks to a desperate search for the roots of underground metal, new bands were popping up that promised to be more brutal than before, usually by playing much faster and eliminating all melody. This flashback was prompted by hearing the hype about Whitechapel in one ear, and the reality played in the other. Read the Rest: Whitechapel - This is Exile review
I honestly really like it. I listen to every sub genre of metal and enjoy each once cogently. Their is nothing wrong with deathcore as long as it's good deathcore...please stop being elitist.
Please stop trying to be the "all accepting lover of music as long as its music". Deathcore as a whole, is diminishing almost everything metal stands for with its focus on image and making money. Very little of it brings anything new to the sound (which is generally pretty simplistic and repetitive). I could say more but honestly...there's no point. Sheep will be sheep.
There are some good deathcore bands such as The Red Chord, Despised Icon, and Through the Eyes of the Dead, but the great majority is fucking horrible.
What I dont get is why the fuck do we have so many trivium threads with people praising a shitty band like that while Whitechapel has only ONE fucking thread and it pretty much gets bashed. Deathcore isnt that bad (or at least, its not as bad as what people here make it to be, but it all really matters on personal opinion), but I prefer Grindcore and Blackened Death Metal over it. Behphegor Behemoth Absu God Dethroned Circle of Dead Children The Funeral Pyre Mortician Carcass Myrkskog Hecate Entroned Cephalic Carnage Panzerchrist Disrupt Phobia Bolt Thrower Trap Them Seven Minutes of Nausea Sore Throat Brujeria Dying Fetus those are just some off the top of my head. I dont hate deathcore, theres just other stuff I would rather listen to.
A lot of Deathcore bands don't base their whole career on imagery....I mean, usually they dress like ordinary fucking dudes, and play extremely shredarific, technical music..so if your into that kind of thing, I honestly don't see how it's harming the metal scene in any fashion. It may attract some scene kids and their gonna spawn away from it any day now. The real fans will remain in the end.
There's nothing wrong with elitism. I have higher standards than others; so what? Some people eat poo, others insist on steak. Life is not fair or equal.
