that astrology has any kind of significance or reality lol, other than what you give it? btw, im not criticising.Im genuinely interested.
I can't speak for modern astrology, but the traditional techniques have been the same for at least 1300 years. Thousands of charts have been delineated with those techniques. Yes like all man-made things it was invented at some point, but if we made everything up every time we did a chart, there wouldn't be any consistency. Here's an example. Let's say in your chart Mercury represents your career. This means on the surface, that you will go into academics, computers, accounting, mathematics, and that sort of thing. Various more complex technique can narrow that down. This may look like guessing, since I just listed four things. You would be right, I AM guessing, but within a narrow range. But with Mercury as significator, I could never tell someone they will be a dancer, a soldier, a construction worker, an artist, and so on. Those belong to other planets. All of the planets and signs, when used properly are like this. There are other things. I did a woman's chart. I saw three major relationships. I knew she had been married twice. I didn't know anything about these two husbands except that the 2nd one was a controlling jerk. The three planets for the three men were Mercury, Mars, and Saturn. I knew the 2nd husband was Mars since Mars is a planet for conflict and violence. This left Mercury and Saturn. Saturn will be a reliable all around good guy but rather boring. Mercury will be an intelligent but rather unreliable guy. Her first husband could have been either one. I didn't know, since my timing techniques aren't great yet. I didn't know which was first. However Mercury was conjunct (next to) Venus. This is an affair. I mixed Mercury's unreliable nature, it's condition which was rather weak, and the fact that it was next to Venus. Venus is a woman. Put this together, and you have an affair. Literally the unreliable and weak husband is next to a woman. I called her and asked her if her first husband had an affair. She gasped and said yes. She hadn't told me, and here I was telling her. So no at least speaking for myself, I don't make wild guesses. I go by the established natures of the planets and signs, and PURELY use that. I never deviate from established rules. In fact I have a stack of books I use when I do charts. When I want to find out about children, I look through my lists and tables and write down everything that applies for that chart. Then I put it together in a way non-astrologers can understand it. This is why it takes me between 4-5 hours to do a chart. It used to take me 2 hours, but now it takes me longer. Sometimes we're still wrong. It's not 100% perfect, but what is?
The most important thing for me is being able to call out distinctive personal traits without knowing the person. Mind you, that happens quite often. It gives me great confidence in astrology and that there are things beyond what the eye sees.
i dnt know but i just hate how they already tell you what you should do for a career.. like im a virgo and it said that i should be working at a restaurants, spas and hotels, when i find all that boring i want adventure in my career and want to travel.
im a virgo and isnt mercury my plant??? so im not reliable?? i feel opposite to that, i know i come through for my friends n family.
No that was how that particular chart played out. Planets signify several things at the same time, so you constantly have to look at the chart from a particular perspective. In her chart, Venus was her ruling planet, financial significator, career significator, and in the case of relationships, the "other woman". My delineation of Mercury was based on a few factors, most importantly Mercury's nature combined with the sign he was in which made him weak.
In the Medieval method, career doesn't necessarily have anything to do with the 10th house. Sun signs aren't used at all for character, so career isn't considered by Sun sign. In fact, the Sun and Moon are never significators for career. The method is complicated, but the first thing to look at is if Mercury, Venus, or Mars are in the 1st house, 10th house, 7th house, or 4th house in that order. If more that one of those planets are in those houses, then you take the closest one to the cusp. Then you have to consider any aspects it has. If no planets are in those houses, that's where it gets complicated, and too long to state here. I use the 10th house as an afterthought unless my significator happens to be there. I don't try to find a specific job since nowadays it's too complicated. How can I tell if you are going to be a software engineer, programmer, IT manager, and so on when these are all computer jobs that are ruled by Mercury? Instead I try to find skills. Most people will have several jobs in their life, but most will carry the same skills with them. THAT'S what I try to find. So Mercury would be analytical, mathematical, academic, and commerce. Any aspects Mercury has will be added. If Mercury has an aspect with Saturn for instance, I would lean towards science in an academic setting.
I know that it works from observation. The reason Astrology "works" is coming soon to a scientist near you. If it seems right to you, and it works for you then it has value. If you look at it as some silly game then that is what it will be for you.
To me, aside from the fact that astrology works - which it Does, especially if you know how to use it or what to look for, and I've studied it for years is: It is proven that the moon affects the tides of the oceans. We are like 90% water, right, or something like that? How could somebody think the moon would Not affect us. It just makes common sense that the other planets would also affect us, just differently (usually) than the moon. btw, the Earliest use of astrology and charts were the rabbi's and church elders. way before Christ... even they understood that Astrology works. Also, I've known EMS workers and am related to a doctor. I've talked to cops that came in restaurants where I've worked and they ALL agree that they had All better beware on the nights of the Full Moon. The night before and after, too, They have all said. But the very night of the Full Moon is the worst, and basically they all don't question this -they just know it and accept it, and know they are going to have to work with it. I just thought that was interesting.
I found out years ago that the moon affects me. I have a few sleepless nights just before, during and just after a full moon. I can count it every month. Even tylenol pm doesn't help. I'm not really into astrology but I do know the moon screws me up monthly and has for more than a decade. Never noticed it when I was very young though.
The moon (luna) is where lunacy and lunatic come from. lol No doubt others, too, that I just can't remember right now. I, too, have more trouble sleeping during full moon effects.
