Hi all! There are some interesting posts here, with various people offering this or that opinion, but in the end, no one ever REALLY changes his or her opinions after reading the posts of others. What is needed is not an approach to God/Reality that consists of mouthing beliefs at one another: "I'm right beacuse...." "You're wrong because...." Instead, we should all come together, atheists and theists alike, people of all faiths and philosophies, to teach each other, to learn to live together in harmony, to learn to LIVE AND LET LIVE!

I am fortunate to be a Focalizer for the Church of the Aquarian Spirit, in the Town of Bethel, NY, home of the 1969 Woodstock Festival, itself billed as "an Aquarian Exposition." This Church is unlike any other: there is no dogma, there is no formal procedure for Celebration, there is no book to follow. In the Church of the Aquarian Spirit, the One Sacred Law is purely and simply: LIVE AND LET LIVE!

This One Sacred Law is not a product of divine revelation, but merely a statement of plain Natural Law. This One Sacred Law transcends all religions,as all dogma is eliminated from the practice of being HUMAN, rather than being christian, jew, muslim, etc. This One Sacred Law allows me to have my belief, and you to have yours, and if they are different, so what? LIVE AND LET LIVE! There is room for all beliefs, provided that all people LIVE AND LET LIVE, and do not try to push their beliefs on others. Every bit of unecessary strife, discord and disharmony among people arises from the violation of this at once simple and sublime One Sacred Law.

We hold Celebration about once a week, usually on Saturday Night. Weather permitting, we build a fire and have a drum circle outdoors. During inclement weather, we hold Celebration in the Church. Celebration does not have to be drums, but people like to drum, and we believe in LIVE AND LET LIVE! If you don't want to drum, but want to talk about any faith or philosophy, feel free! Maybe you want to talk about sex, drugs, and rock and roll; maybe you want to talk about politics...the whole point of these Celebrations is to demonstrate the harmonizing effect of living by the One Sacred Law, as very different people, with very widely varying beliefs come together in harmony.

i think its an interesting idea. however, i dislike the word 'church'. lol...

i find that im repelled by organisations that link people together through spiritual beliefs. and i dont know why. i completely agree with your 'live and let live' philosophy, but i wouldnt partake because it seems almost pointless meeting up with people and doing things i would normally do with my friends. it's almost as though the organisation has been made so a group of hippies can get together and be happy.

dont get me wrong, i love hippies, and i dont use the word in a derogatory way. i just think that if i wanted to meet up with hippies and talk about whatever i liked i'd go to a folk festival or a music festival or have a party with my friends or something... somewhere where i didnt feel pressured to believe one uniting belief (whether i actually believed it or not).

good fun can happen naturally, it doesnt need to be pushed. or have i taken the idea too seriously? this is just what i think. :)

Seems like a very good idea, this Church of the Aquarian Spirit. However, there was one thing I didn't like ...

I've actually changed my stance on religion thanks to some posts on these froums. ;) It's because of these posts that I am now a theist rather than an agnostic.

First, to respond to Defence mechanism: The word "church" has negative connotations for many people, including even myself! I sort of think of the Church of the Aquarian Spirit as sort of the antidote to the traditional church...in fact, if you were here during our Celebrations, you might very well not even know that you were part of a religious service, and you would never feel pressured to " believe one uniting belief." In fact that would go completely against the idea of LIVE AND LET LIVE!

Here's something from the Church website www.SCIONICS.com:

Special Note: Both Scionics Philosophy and Aquarian Spiritualism recognize the individual, the Sovereign Individual, as the highest authority. Thus Scionics requires the belief and/or obedience of no one. Visitors of this site, and of the Aquarian World Vision Center, are likewise not required to believe or obey any sort of external authority; in fact, they are urged to question everything, and to think for themselves. The only thing we require of every visitor is the recognition that individual freedom is our most fundamental social right and that non-interference with the freedom of others is our most fundamental social duty. In other words, at least while you are here:

    "Live and Let Live."

All are welcome here, in peace, all the time.

to Hikaru Zero: I stand corrected :)
