my name is nico. it's been about a month and a 1/2 since i stopped brushing my hair, and i wanted to keep up with the progress. i've learned a lot from this site, and have enjoyed looking at other beautiful dreads. info wise, it's natural, i wash with dr b., do vinegar rinses about once a week, am thinking about doing a deep cleaning soon, and i put aloe and tea tree oil in my hair every once in a while. i was stricken with psoriasis this summer. my mom had it when she was young, it's hereditary, though i was very surprised because i had never known that she did, and it is very painful and irritating and itchy. its pretty much only on my scalp, but when it first showed up, my whole body was covered with a rash. anyways, the point of all this is, i have always found dreads beautiful, and have always wanted them. through researching natural ways to deal with my scalp i found a lot of info, including the forum. i realized that everything that is good for dreads is good for psoriasis, so i decide to grow them. it is also nice because the dreads form a sort of shield, and when i have a sore or am oozing (disgusting, i know), no one can see it. so, here are some pictures of me before...my hair is naturally curly but i straightened it all of the time and could only find a couple curly photos.
There looking good. My scalp turns into a bloody mess about one month out the year for some reason so I know of the itchy terror.
maybe you have a vampire who comes to your town once a year for vacation and he has a thing against necks so he goes for the scalps
No I meant it in sense that it becomes caked in blood. Id much rather it was just a "bloody" mess. I seem to recall my nan saying it was something my great granddad had and was something to do with producing far too much oil and it getting "trapped under the skin" but I'd take most of her medical advice with a pinch of salt.
oops sorry i didn't mean to make a joke about something that probably bothers you, pypes, it's just that i like to bring up the subject of vampires every so often and you gave me the perfect opportunity because you mentioned blood.
Don't worry, I couldn't give a toss, there's about a million worse medical conditions I could have ended up with and having a bad scalp 8% of the time is far from being the worst. Also I appear to have jacked nico's thread for which I apologise.
thank you sir. man, its crazy looking at the first photo and then the ones from the other day...i knew my hair was shrinking, and that it was supposed too, but you cant really tell from day to day. my hair is so much shorter now, and way hotter.
