I love your dreads, man. Don't cut whatever you do... if a job isn't going to accept you due to your hair then the job isn't worth having.

No offence eagle, but starting a business is not as easy as getting someone lower to work for you, so you can earn more. It takes so much money, effort, loans and risks of bankruptcy. The credit crunch in the Uk makes this worse.
And I see you're from peterborough Phil.. I have a mate who tells me there are no jobs there at all due to immigrants stealing all the jobs.

Don't chalk it up to your hair just yet, chalk it up to some brown fellow offering to work for a quarter of what they offered.

What type of career are you looking at? I don't have dreads because I'm in nursing school. Some knock me for getting rid of em. But really, we don't live in a perfect world and sometimes we can't forget, despise Babylon...sure, but we do still live here.

Arcane electrician speak. I'm allways getting shit for having "electricians jokes" with my brother, we have a bit of a running gag involving the number of wire clips I used in this blokes house that no one else in the world would find funny.

its a good idea, but its funding that, and materials to do jobs, plus i dont have any jobs of my own for them to look at as evidence.... oh for everyone else, im an apprentice electrician of sorts, with bits of other trades thrown in

yeah the credit crunch is squeezing us all a bit too tightly, there are jobs, but not in my field of expertise it seems, there are hardly any part time jobs though, more than likely due to cheap labour like you say...it sucks....i couldnt even get a pizza delivery job!

Do some none reportable jobs (modification of existing circuits, no kitches / bathrooms) and if you can get your hands on a re-wire then you can just swallow the cost of informing building control (200 quid on a 2 -> 3 grand job) and you'll soon have a portfolio.

I'm saying this but I haven't exactly done all this myself so its very much theory atm. I start my 17th next week and my 2391 in jan so I've got another 6 months of college. Woo!

it is a pretty sound theory, and a good optimistic attitude i guess lol. Im self employed doing housebashing and other stuff at the moment with my sort of boss, but I havent been paid for like 5 weeks because of funding issues, and its starting to piss me off. my other idea was to find a part time job to tide me over for a bit, whilst we are quiet. you working and studying?

    create a market
    just lil research needed
independence from the electric companies.. solar instalations
research the cost of materials.. add in the cost of labor
research also the savings to the customer
place an add.. for a 1 timne investment of... you can save... a year.. and in... years actualy make a proffit..
    a few instalations gives u a portfolio..

im convcidering making teepees for a livin myself.. soon as iu can afford to maske my 1st 1...

remember though when u start a business the 1st yewar or 2 put as much sas u can right back into the businrees to increase it..
the 1st few years u want to operate on the edge barely making enough to get by putting the rest into building up the business till its making plentyu of proffit and increasing your skills at the dame time
