I was gonna say write-in Tommy Chong but apparently he's Canadian. I don't know if I'll vote yet. I'm not even registered.
Hell, I would vote if I was American. I encourage my lazy stoner friends to get off their ass and vote. It's better than sitting at home on the computer, that's for sure. Might even make for some interesting people watching.
It's our duty, as americans, to vote. Too many people have lost their lives protecting our freedoms for you to not vote. Just as it is our duty to listen to the candidates and decide. You want change, vote. Beleive me, politicians understand one thing and one thing only, votes. If their not elected, they won't get the power that comes with it. If they know that in order to get elected, they need, say, the steelworkers vote, they will pander to the steelworkers. Both parties. Neither party, up until recently, cared about the young people vote because, up until recently (thanks to Rock the Vote, MTV) young people didn't vote. If you start voting, they'll start listening to you.
Yeah, get all the dumb teenage stooges to go out and vote for someone they know nothing about other than what their favorite sports team is. Brilliant!
I will be following in the footsteps of George Carlin and will definitely not be voting: https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=george+carlin+voting&search_type=&aq=f
That picture says it all right there. People who believe that democracy is real are totally out of touch with reality. Your vote will never ever make a difference and change the way things are run in this country. Ever.
I'm not a big fan of Democracy myself, and do not truly believe that a vote makes that much of a difference. But honestly, might as well... it's not too much of an inconvenience, and who knows... maybe it will help us elect the least of the worst evils. One of them is going to get elected anyhow. Might as well enjoy all the ridiculous stuff that is associate with the process.
Yes really. People complain about everything and then refuse to do anything to try and change the situation. Not just in elections, but in all aspects of life, this is something that I fail to comprehend. Pressed_Rat, as you say, it may not make a difference, but abstaining will definitely not make a difference.
what about the power of not voting? I have this notion in my mind that if enough people voted blank, the government might realize their system is flawed and try to change it. maybe I'm just being naive again.
