peeping tom.....it really depends what kind of mood yuo are in...we played or tried to play rock band not to long ago....that was interesting
Call me old (well I am) but I always loved these while tripping, but they are the lay down with headphones on type of music. The Moody Blues: Days of the Future Passed & On the Threshold of a Dream Days pace and flow of music, lyrics I always felt mirrored the progression of an acid trip, listen to it to see what I meen. On the Threshold of a Dream is another great one; Are you Sitting Comfortably is awsome; "Take another sip my Love and see what you will see, a fleet of golden galleons on a crystal sea. Are sitting comfortably, let Merlin cast his spell" Must be heard while tripping, conjours up great visuals for me even when straight. Another personal favorite from the dark ages is Genesis The Lamb lies Down on Broadway. If you have never heard it you owe it to yourself to give it a listen. I like it not only because of the music but also the lyrics/story. Some of the music from the '60's and 70's can be great to listen to when tripping, created when LSD was at it's peak and still widely available, even pharmacuetical Sandoz Delysid (early 60's) I'm listening to Threshold right now, a classic then and now. Oh well thats my two cents worth.
i agree Gorillaz - Demon Days and Massive Attack - Mezzanine, but any is good and I like this guy http://www.myspace.com/digitalmixdown pretty chilled techno-ish stuff
Easily in the top 3 albums ever made. The entire thing from beginning to end is perfect (which takes up to a few years to dawn on many people), but Im going to have to pick Broadway Melody of 1974 as the best track. But that is a very tough descision lol. Gabriel era Genesis and early 70's Yes are in my opinion the pinnacle of music. God Bless +
I agree completely, The Lamb and The Who's Quadrophenia are my two top favorites. The first time I ever fried on 600mics, "And You and I" from the live Yessongs album was playing when I smoked some blonde Lebanese hash and the world melted into nothingness before my eyes, and all became one and one became all, (is that a level 5 trip?) so Yes does hold a special place in my heart as well. I'm glad to see there are still some out there who appreciate the "progressive rock" of that era. "and they're giving me a wonderful potion 'cause I cannot contain my emotion"
i am usally into rap but when tripping i couldent even listen to it for a couple mins and then i turned on some beatles and bob marley and was amazed try some of that
Also, I can't remember what song it was by Phish, but it was pretty long, and very trippy, and at one point the music made me have to urinate, then it would stop when I stood up, then I'd sit down and hear the sounds again and have to go, it was extremely trippy! Anyone know what song it could have been? I'm not all that familiar with Phish.. Peace
A lot of people here are suggesting contemporary or Western style music. But I find when I am tripping, I much prefer less bar-structured music, or at least, music with many layers and natural sounds. Essentially, almost any music can become amazing while on acid, but I suggest looking for some ethnic music, from Africa, India, Middle East, South America, Latin, etc. These musics utilise many different beat structures than the sort of music people have suggested here, which almost all conform to western bar structures.
That said, the music I have enjoyed the most while tripping has all been from the late 60's/Early 70's. Hmm
I dig middle-eastern and indian folk very much as well, but also when it's mixed with triphop, psychill and sometimes even drum 'n bass, like Thievery Corporation does very well on a few songs, or Loop Guru (some tracks). I'm pretty selective when it comes to that kind of music though
Listen to the album "Whincing the Night Away" by the Shins; or anything by Jefferson Airplane (white Rabbit), Just don't listen to Pink Floyd's "The Wall" album!!! I thought I died when I listened to it trippin
