If you have to preface something with "don't get mad", you should probably just shut up, because they are going to get mad...
It reminds me of this ad I saw for a mental hospital, and they keep saying "Its not a scary place" in a semi whispered voice obviously it was a scary place
I agree. Same goes with "not to be rude but...". That preface is an acknowledgment that what follows is rude and that the speaker is just too damned lazy and uncreative to reword the message more courteously.
My mom uses that phrase with me quite often. Usually it's "Don't get mad, but I spent your check on ...." Usually something completely useless that I niether need or want.
dont get mad mitten but okay i got nothing and i agree. might be the dumbest phrase ever. if i gotta say something that is gonna piss someone off ill just say it. haha for real.
